HO HUM.....(Yawn).....ANOTHER TRESSEL WIN OVER MICHIGAN........... OK to all you "Tressel Is Too Conservative" critics out there....tell me the truth........if you had to pick between "Rich Rod" and Jim Tressel for your head football coach who would it be? Or to put it another way......who is THE most successfull Ohio State Coach of late in the rivalry (no it's not "Rich Rod" but good answer he's def a rock solid boost for the Buckeyes in this rivalry). The Ohio State domination of Michigan continued - as expected - under the Tressel ERA as OSU won 35 - 7 in what used to be our annual "rivalry" game. With the latest (yawn) win, Tressel improves his record against Michigan to 9-1 and the team improved to 11-1 for the season...now for a look at the (yawn) game.......
THE SKIMMY....... We're not sure but after watching this game has there ever been a more incompetent Michigan team or Michigan coach on the field together? Bad defense, one dimensional offense that only produced 7 points, and to top it off........the worst special teams ever........Consider this - Michigan came into the game 4/13 in field goals, had a punter who used the "rich rod" rugby run to the right to kick the ball to the tune of "shanked" 20 yard punts on multiple occasions, and also gave up a kickoff for a touchdown. Amazing that this team won 7 games this year.SUGAR BOWL BOUND?...... The OSU win clinched a 6th straight Big Ten Title (either share or outright) and likely means the Buckeyes will take their 11-1 record in a BCS Bowl to the Sugar Bowl against a 10-2 Arkansas team that has a QB - Ryan Mallett - a strong armed NFL drop back passer who was a former Michigan player that transferred when "Rich Rod" refused to run an NFL offense (As we all know Rich Rod runs the "vaunted" spread offense and it's well known that it's "RICH ROD WAY" or the HIGHWAY). As for Michigan, after two years without a bowl game, they will get to extend their season by playing where-ever it is that 7-5 teams play..........DID YOU KNOW.......
+ "Boom" Herron's 89 yard run tied the longest run from scrimmage.... + Michigan's quarterback was knocked out of the game in the second half due to injury.........for the 10TH TIME IN 12 GAMES this year......(HINT - Rich Rod - maybe are you running your QB too often??)THROWBACK UNIFORMS........ In what is looking like an ongoing tradition for Ohio State, for the second year in a row Ohio State wore throwback uniforms for the Michigan game. This year's attire honored the 1942 OSU National Championship team which was the first championship team for Ohio State. That team was coached by Paul Brown.REFEREES WERE VERY VISIBLE....... Rule of thumb with referees........if you notice them during the gamel, then they probably didn't do their job..........as for this group.......CAN YOU SAY TOTAL EXPOSURE......the referees called unsportsmanlike conduct on the Buckeyes TWICE for excessive celebration in the endzone after scoring a touchdown.......so you ask - what was the crime? The OSU players used the specially made Nike gloves to form an "O" to the fans after they scored.........but it gets worse........."Boom" Herron ran 98 yards for a touchdown - but wait - 89 yards downfield during the run an overly-excited referee THOUGHT he saw a holding call so he threw the yellow hanky to ensure everybody knew that Barney Fife had nothing on him in ability to control a situation........NICE CALL.....me - i'm thinking he's a Rich Rod version of the men in stripes........MICHIGAN TRIVIA QUESTION FOR THE DAY: What Michigan Quarterback in the 70's went 30-2-1 in three seasons as a starter yet his team (MICHIGAN) NEVER played in one bowl game during that span?
