What is the Hall of Fame?

The Greenon Hall of Fame is a Memorial to the outstanding students, people with successful careers, and athletes who through their achievements have brought honor to themselves, their school, and their community.

What is the purpose of the Hall of Fame?

The purpose of the Hall of Fame is threefold.

First, to recognize the many great students; men, or women who have had success in their career; and/or athletes who have brought fame to themselves and Greenon High School.
To establish in the hearts and minds of our youth, a motivating influence to excel in athletics, academics, and vocations.
To foster pride, preserve good sportsmanship, scholarship, and citizenship in our school and community.

Who makes up the selection committee?

Alumni

Principal of Greenon H.S. - Advisory
The Hall of Fame General Selection Committee. The Committee shall be composed of five (5) people.

Past or Present Staff Members
Greenon Alumni (non-school employees)

Athletic

Athletic Director and Principal of Greenon High School - Advisory
The Hall of Fame Athletic Selection Committee. The Committee shall be composed of no more than nine (9) members:

What are the qualifications to be inducted?

Alumni

Must have made a significant contribution to society.
Must have distinguished themselves in a career/philanthropy.
Must have received a high school diploma from Greenon.
Nominees must receive 70% or more of the votes from the committee.

Athletic (see Appendix A for additional information)

An athlete must have earned two letters in one sport or one letter in two or more sports at Greenon High School.
An athlete/student must have graduated at least five years prior to selection.
A coach/staff member or athletic administrator must have served on the Greenon staff for at least five years.
A coach/staff member or athletic administrator will be considered for induction five years after completion of employment.
The nominees will be those that receive 70% or more of the votes from the committee (at least seven of the ten votes).

What is the selection process?

Alumni

Nominations for the Alumni Hall of Fame shall be in writing on the official nomination form, which is available at the Principal’s office, on the Greenon Local Schools website, or from any committee member. Nominations may be originated by any member of the Greenon Committee, Greenon Alumni, family members, or interested persons. Nominations should be forwarded to: Greenon Hall of Fame, Attn: Principal, Greenon High School, 500 Enon-Xenia Rd, Enon, OH 45323.
Each year, the selection committee will review all nominees and select the candidates to be inducted into the Greenon Alumni Hall of Fame.
An appropriate award shall be given to the inductees, with one going to the recipient, and one to the school to be displayed in an appropriate place.
The time of induction into the Greenon Alumni Hall of Fame shall be such as to give proper respect, ceremony, and dignity to the Hall of Fame Award.
A ballot containing the names of all eligible candidates will be prepared and submitted to the selection committee for voting purposes.

In the event of a tie, the decision would be made by the Athletic Director.

Nominations are particularly sought of men and women who have achieved success in their career; made significant contributions to their field, as well as to society in general; or had great athletic achievements while at Greenon.

Appendix A

If nominated for Category A or T, must have graduated from or left high school more than five (5) years prior to selection, or in the case of a team, have completed its season more than five (5) years prior to selection.

● CATEGORY A: An individual who competed in interscholastic athletics while attending Enon High School & Greenon High School and was selected to an All-County, All-League, All-Area, All-District, All-Regional, All-State, or All Tournament Team as well as National recognition as a result of such competition.

● CATEGORY B: An individual who lived in and maintains or maintained significant contacts with Enon High School & Greenon High School and competed in a sport characterized by low participation levels, the season for which runs concurrently with a sport characterized by higher participation levels, and which has not been traditionally available and recognized as an interscholastic sport at Enon High School & Greenon High School.

● CATEGORY C: An individual not regularly employed (e.g. Doctors, trainers, sports writers, etc.) by above mentioned schools that made a significant contribution to the athletic programs and teams of the Greenon Local Schools.

● CATEGORY D: An individual who made a significant contribution to athletics after graduation from Enon High School & Greenon High School.

● CATEGORY T: A team which had a significant single-season achievement in athletics at Enon High School & Greenon High School, provided that a selection of a team will not prohibit an individual member of such team being selected as a Category A selectee.

SELECTION CRITERIA (category A, only)

The following criteria will be given substantial weight in selection:

Team achievement (won-loss record) where the individual competed in a team sport, and/or individual success, where the individual competed in an individual sport.
Contemporaneous selection of the individual to an All-Star team at the state, district, and local levels as well as any National recognition.
High achievements in statistical categories, if verifiable, associated with the sport in which the individual competed, taking into account the era during which the individual competed.
Achievement in more than one sport.
Post high school athletic achievement.

PROVISION FOR AMENDMENT:

The Hall of Fame Committee, by majority vote with a quorum present, may adjust the years of an individual’s eligibility for selection due to extenuating circumstances.
