25 Feb 12 - GREENON BOYS ENDS SEASON WITH LOSS TO BELLEFONTAINE............
The Greenon boys basketball lost to Bellefontaine by a score of 52-35 to end their season with a record of 9-12 (4-6 CBC). Leading scorer's were Cody Carpenter with 10, Anthony Colletti with 7, and Seth Currier with 5 points. It was the final game for Senior's Josh Pilcher, Seth Currier, Josh Bannick, Aaron Debolt, and Brandon McNeil.

20 Feb 12 - GREENON GIRLS ELIMINATED BY URBANA 53-50............
The Greenon girls basketball team saw their season end as they lost to Urbana in a tournament game by a score of 53-50. Teddi Tankersley lead the Knights with 12 points. It was the final game for Senior's Whitney Robinson, Teddi Tankersley, Taylor Miller, and Moriah Scott. The Knights finished the season 14-7 (8-2 CBC). They shared the CBC title with Urbana.

28 Oct 11 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS NORTHWESTERN 59 - 21............
Greenon football ended their season on a high note by defeating Northwestern 59-21 in their final game of the year. Greenon ends the season with a record of 4-6 (3-2 CBC).

25 Oct 11 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER TEAM TOURNAMENT RESULTS............
The Greenon boys soccer team beat Nortwestern 2-1 in overtime and then lost their next game to finish their season with a 10-6-1 record (8-3 CBC).

20 Oct 11 - GIRLS SOCCER TEAM LOSES TO KENTON RIDGE IN OVERTIME............
The Greenon girls soccer season ended with a 4-3 overtime loss to Kenton Ridge in tournament play. Greenon's ends the season with a record of 7-11 (6-5 CBC).

21 May 11 - GREENON GIRLS SOFTBALL CONCLUDE SEASON WITH LOSS TO NORTHWESTERN 20-4..........
Greenon lost their final regular season game at home to Northwestern by a score of 20-4. Northwestern scored 6 runs in the top of the 1st inning to take a lead that they never lost. Greenon - which has one Senior - Angie Pernell - finishes the season with a record of 4-22 (0-16 CBC). Greenon has lost 60 straight CBC games the past 3 1/2 season's. Northwestern finished the season with a record of 16 - 10 (11-5 CBC). Northwestern Senior Kallie Coy made her final at bat of her outstanding four year career a memorable one as she unloaded a mammoth homerun well over the Center Field fence in her last bat of her high school softball career.

20 May 11 - GREENON BASEBALL TEAM LOSES FINAL TO NORTHWESTERN 4-3..........
Greenon lost their final regular season game at home to Northwestern by a score of 4-3. Greenon finishes the season 1-21 (0-16 CBC). Senior's who played on this year's squad were Ryan Steiner, Tyler Devore, Kyle Hosier, Clay Robinson, Ross Brandon, Nick Andrews, and Tyler Seitz.

13 May 11 - SENIOR'S BEAT JUNIOR'S IN ANNUAL GIRLS POWEDERPUFF FOOTBALL GAME..........
When Senior Amanda Boling boomed a long punt out of the end zone to run out the final seconds of the clock, the 2011 version of the girls powder puff football game ended with the Greenon Senior Class defeating the Greenon Junior Class by a score of 12-0 in the annual girls powder puff game. The Senior's never trailed as they used two touchdown passes from Rachael Christopher to Alexa Jackson and the blocking of center Samantha Norris to score their points, and then relied on their fleet defense led by defensive backs Emily Beekman and Lindsay Burkholder to shut down the Junior offense which was led by Quarterback's Taylor Miller and Teddi Tankersley to emerge victorious. Senior Wide Receiver Alexa Jackson was able to get behind the secondary twice and when she did Quarterback Rachael Christopher displayed an accurate, strong arm as she tossed both touchdown passes to Jackson just past the reach of the defenders.

25 Feb 11 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES FIRST ROUND TOURNAMENT GAME...........
The Greenon boys basketball team lost to top seeded Bellefontaine in a first round tournament game by a score of 75 - 21. The Knights fell behind 19 - 2 is the first period and trailed throughout. Leading scores for the Knights were Junior Josh Pilcher with 6 points and Senior Clint Hirtzinger with 5 points. The Knights end the season with a record of 4 - 17 (2-8 CBC). The 4 wins were the most for a Greenon team since the 2005-06 team won 4 games. It was the final game for Senior's Travis Tinker, Clint Hirtzinger, and Kyle Phelps as well as Senior Cheerleaders Emily Beekman and Calli Carpenter.

22 Feb 11 - GREENON GIRLS DROP TOURNAMENT GAME TO KENTON RIDGE 59 - 36............
The Greenon girls first round tournament basketball game turned out to be their last game of the year as they drew # 2 seeded Kenton Ridge and lost by a score of 59 - 36. Kenton Ridge took an early 5 - 0 lead, stretched the lead to 29 - 17 at halftime and were never threatened. Leading scorer for the Knights was Sophomore Jenna Robertson with 11 points. Kenton Ridge scoring leaders were Michigan State recruit Mariah Harris (18 points) and Paige McCrary (18 points). The Knights conclude their season with a record of 8 - 13 (4 - 6 CBC.

06 Nov 10 - GREENON GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM TAKES 9TH PLACE AT STATE MEET............
The Greenon cross country team finished in 9th place at the state meet. It was the second consecutive year the team qualified for the State meet and only the 3rd time in school history. MacKenzie McMillin was Greenonís top finisher, coming in 43rd in 19:29.

30 Oct 10 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM ELIMINATED IN DISTRICT FINALS GAME............
The Greenon girls soccer team lost their District Finals game to Indian Hill by a score of 2-0. The score was 0 - 0 at halftime. Greenon finishes the season with a record of 13-4-2 (9-0-2 in CBC). It was the last game for Senior's Shannon DeLong, Rachael Christopher, Amanda Boling, and Mary Kate Picolo.

29 Oct 10 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS LAST GAME AT NORTHWESTERN 28-7.............
The Greenon football team took a 14-0 halftime lead and then extended it to 28-0 before Northwestern scored a touchdown as they defeated Northwestern by a score of 28-7 in their final game of the season. Junior Quarterback Josh Pilcher had a good passing game as he was 13-17 for 169 yards and one touchdown. Greenon finishes the season one game behind Urbana and Ben Logan (both 4-1 in CBC) with a record of 4-6 (3-2 in CBC).

21 Oct 10 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER TEAM LOSES TO BELLEFONTAINE IN TOURNAMENT 4-2.............
The Greenon boys soccer team went into halftime with a 2-0 lead but Bellefontaine outscored them 4-0 in the second half as they lost their second round tournament game at home by a final score of 4-2. Greenon finishes the season with a record of 10-5-3 (7-2-2 in CBC).

18 Oct 10 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Finishes Undefeated in CBC Play with win over Indian Lake .............
The Greenon girls soccer team beat Indian Lake 2-0 to finish the CBC with a record of 9-0-2 which was 1/2 game behind the Northwestern Warrier team which finished with a record of 10-0-1.

16 Oct 10 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER TEAM EARNS SHARE OF CBC CROWN FOR 3RD STRAIGHT SEASON.............
The Greenon boys soccer team's goal at the beginning of the year was to win a 3rd straight CBC crown - "Three-Peat". Greenon beat Indian Lake by a score of 6-2 to reach that goal. The Knights finished the season with a CBC record of 7-2-2, which was good enough to share first place with Northwestern.

15 Oct 10 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS HOMECOMING GAME 35-27.............
It was homecoming weekend for the Greenon and after Senior Kelly Reeves was crowned homecoming queen the Greenon football team knocked off CBC preseason favorite Ben Logan by a score of 35-27. Greenon was ahead 21-7 at halftime and they held off a Ben Logan second half win when they recovered a late onside kick to clinch the victory.

11 Oct 10 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM DEFEATS FAIRBORN 6-0 ON SENIOR NIGHT.............
The Greenon girls soccer team scored 3 quick goals and cruised to a 6-0 win over Fairborn in the final regular season home game of the year. It was Senior Night for Greenon as Seniors Shannon DeLong, Rachael Christopher, Mary Kate Picolo, and Amanda Bolinig were honored during a halftime ceremony.

04 Oct 10 - Greenon Girls Tie Northwestern 0-0 .............
The Greenon girls soccer game traveled to Northwestern needing a win to get first place in the CBC and despite repeated shot attempts at the end of the game they were unable to score any goals as they tied Northwestern 0-0. Greenon's best opportunity to score came on a free indirect kick by Senior Amanda Boling from 35 yards out. Boling kicked the ball into the net just over the outstretched hands of the Northwestern goalie but the goal did not count since it was an indirect kick. The game, originally scheduled to be played at Greenon's home field, was moved to Northwestern so that the varsity girls and the varsity boys could both play on the same field in back to back games.

The Greenon girls soccer team tied Bellefontaine 2-2. Greenon's record for the year is now 2-2-1.

13 May 10 - Greenon Baseball Team Loses Tournament Game at Kenton Ridge.............
The Greenon Baseball team lost at Kenton Ridge by a score of 8-2. Greenon ends the season with a record of 4-24 (2-14 CBC). It was the last game for Senior's Zach Hupp and Keenan Kozak.

11 May 10 - Girls Softball Team Loses Tournament Game at Top Ranked Greenville.............
Greenon girls softball team lost at Greenville by a score of 12-0. Greenville was the top ranked team in the state. Greenon ends the season with a record of 2-24 (0-16 CBC). It was the final game for Senior's Sam Spencer, Allyson Gibbs, Michelle Ashworth, Alyssa Hrosch, Tess Lewis, and Carra Mitchell.

02 Mar 10 - Girls Basketball Team Drops Final Game...............
In a makeup game at Greenon which was played exactly one week after Greenon was eliminated from the Division II tournament by Kenton Ridge 75-57 the Knights lost the rematch by a score of 51-46. It was the final game of the season for the Knights and it was also the final game of Senior Allie Turner's career. Turner scored 13 points for the Knights to finish with 2,079 points for her career. Turner was 9-11 from the free throw line. The loss dropped Greenon's record for the season to 12-10. They finished 10-6 in the CBC which was good for 3rd place behind Indian Lake and Graham who were both 12-4. Greenon's other Senior is Kyra Dorney.

27 Feb 10 - Graham Eliminates Greenon Boys Basketball Team...............
For the 3rd straight season the Greenon Knights took on Graham in a 1st round sectional tournament game. The Knights were eliminated by a score of 61-28. Leading scorers for the Knights were Dalton Lacy and Travis Tinker with 8 points each. The loss ended the season for the team. Greenon finished the season with a record of 3-18 (2-14 in the CBC). Senior's Dalton Lacy and Keenan Kozak played their final game for the Knights. Lacy led the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game, with a high of 22 at Ben Logan. Defensive specialist Kozak averaged 4 points per game.

13 Feb 10 - Turner Hits 2,000 Point Milestone......
It was Senior night at Greenon High School Saturday night and Greenon Senior Allie Turner took full advantage of the evening as both her and fellow Senior Kyra Dorney were honored before the game and then during the game Turner poured in 35 points, including a running baseline floater with 4:30 left in the game that propelled her over the 2,000 point total, as the Knights walked away with a convincing 75-45 win over Ben Logan. Greenon's record for the year is now 11-8 (10 - 5 in the CBC) with one more regular season game against Kenton Ridge before they begin tournament play.

8 Dec 09 - Knights Lose to Northeastern......
After a 2 win season under former Coach Richard Quisenberry in 2008 and a 1 win season under current coach Tim Lacy last year, the Knights boys basketball team was hoping to start the new season with a victory. It almost happened as Sophomore Josh Pilcher scored a career high 23 points and Senior Dalton Lacy scored 15 but the Knights lost their opener to Northeastern 53-50 when Lacy's desperation 3 point shot banged off the backboard. Greenon had two chances to tie or win the game in the last 10 seconds but after turning over the ball in the last 8 seconds of the game they could not convert the long 3 pointer at the buzzer. Greenon's record for the season is 0-1.

5 Dec 09 - Turner Passes 1,500 Point Milestone as Knights Defeat Indian Lake 46-45......
The Greenon Knights girls basketball team opened their season with a 46-45 win over Indian Lake. Greenon Senior Allie Turner led the team in scoring with 22 points. Turer passed the 1,500 point milestone for her career when she drained a 3 point shot with 5 seconds left in the first period. She is already the leading scorer in Knights history.

13 Nov 09 - Turner Signs Division I Basketball Scholarship......
Greenon Senior Allie Turner signed a Division I Full Ride Scholarship with Morehead State College. Turner is the leading scorer in Knights history with 1,492 points through her Junior season and she is the only Greenon girls basketball player to sign a Division I scholarship.

8 Nov 09 - Lady Knights Girls Cross Country Team 8th in the State......
The Greenon girls cross country team placed 8th at the State tournament in Columbus. It was the best finish EVER for a Greenon Girls Cross Country Team. Mary Wenzell, Mackenzie McMillin, Megan Ball, Erica Miller, Jami Durkee, Sydney Lewis and Lacey Price ran for the Knights at the State meet. Greenon is coached by Kim Wise (head coach) and Caleb Arnold (assistant coach).

31 Oct 09 - Girls Cross Country Team Statebound......
The Greenon girls cross country team is Statebound for the first time since 1999 as they placed 3rd at the Regional Finals Meet at Troy which enabled them to qualify for the State Meet next weekend at Columbus. Mary Wenzell placed 1st for the Knights with a time of 20:11. Following Mary were Mackenzie McMillin (20:40), Megan Ball (20:55), Erica Miller (21:35), Jami Durkee (21:55), Sydney Lewis (22:17) and Lacey Price (24:46).

30 Oct 09 - Football Team Loses in Overtime 27-21......
The Greenon football team fell behind 14-0 against Northwestern and stormed back to tie the game in the last minute of regulation and then took a lead in overtime before falling to Northwestern by a score of 27-21. Greenon's record for the year was 2-7 (0-5 CBC). (NOTE: One of the victory's was a forfeit win over Thurgood Marshall). It was the last game for Greenon Senior's Zach Hupp, Ritchie Burns, Matt Couse, and Chris Stephens.

27 Oct 09 - Boys Soccer Team Loses Sectional Finals Game to Bellefontaine 2-0.......
The Greenon boys soccer team held Bellefontaine scoreless in the first half but Bellefontaine scored two goals in the second half as they defeated Greenon 2-0 in a Sectional Finals Tournament game. Greenon finishes the season with a record of 11-5-1 (9-1-1 CBC)

21 Oct 09 - Girls Soccer Team Loses Tournament Game 5-2.......
The # 5 seeded Greenon girls soccer team lost to the # 4 seeded Sidney Lehman soccer team by a score of 5-2. Greenon trailed 4-1 at halftime. Sophomore Katie Collins and Senior Kyra Dorney scored goals for the Knights. Greenon's season ends with a final record of 8-9-1. This was their first losing season since at least the early 1990's. It was the final game for Senior's Brittany Ennemoser (injured), Elise Masquelier, Maggie Picolo, Jacqueline Somer, Lauren Strickland (injured), and Kyra Dorney.

15 Oct 09 - Girls Soccer Team Loses 4-1....
The Greenon girls soccer team went on the road to play Jonathan Alder where they lost by a score of 4-1. Greenon trailed 2-1 at halftime before giving up two 2nd half goals. The loss concluded the regular season schedule for the Knights and they ended the season with a record of 7-8-1.

14 Oct 09 - Boys Soccer Defeats Indian Lake 7-3....
The Greenon boys soccer team concluded their regular seaon schedule with a convincing 7-3 win at Indian Lake. Greenon finished the season with a record of 10-4-1 (9-1-1 CBC) as they won the CBC Mad River Division for the 2nd year in a row.

09 Oct 09 - Football Team Loses Homecoming Game 16-0....
On a rainy, windy homecoming night Greenon dominated the time of possession in the first half but Indian Lake was the team that scored late in the half after a Knights tunover then the Lakers scored 9 more second half points to defeat the Knights by a score of 16 - 0. Greenon's record for the year is now 1-6 (0-2 CBC).

05 Oct 09 - Girls Soccer Team Gets Shutout at Northwestern....
Greenon lost at Northwestern 4-0. The loss eliminates them from title contention and leaves them with a record of 4-5 (CBC) and 5-7-1 overall.

05 Oct 09 - Boys Soccer Team Clinches 1st Place with Win over Northwestern....
Greenon clinched 1st place in the CBC Mad River Division with an 8-1 win over Northwestern. Greenonís CBC record is 7-1-1. Sophomore Jerron Bennington scored 3 goals, Brandon Keaton scored two goals, and Cody Carpenter, John Klarer, and Kyle Lloyd all scored a goal.

30 Sep 09 - Girls Soccer Team Loses to Graham 3-1....
Sopomore Katie Nickels scored a goal for Greenon but that was all the offense they could muster as the Lady Knights lost to Graham by a score of 3-1. Greenon's record for the year is now 5-6-1 (4-4 CBC).

25 Sep 09 - Knights Football Team Loses to Shawnee 55-14....
Greenon scored two touchdowns in the 2nd qtr as they trailed Shawnee 28-14 at halftime but Shawnee reeled off 27 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Greenon by a score of 55-14. Greenon's Ritchie Burns returned an interception back 17 yards for a touchdown and Junior Mac Donaldson caught an 8 yard TD pass from Josh Pilcher for the other score. Greenon's record for the year is now 1-4 (0-0 CBC).

23 Sep 09 - Girls Soccer Team Loses at Tipp 4-1....
Greenon trailed Tipp at halftime 1-0 but Tipp was too much for the lady knights soccer team as they lost by a score of 4-1. Greenon's record for the year is now 4-5-1 (3-3 CBC).

21 Sep 09 - Girls Soccer Team Loses to Kenton Ridge 3-1....
Greenon freshman Ally Lloyd scored the first goal of the game to give the Knights a 1-0 lead but Kenton Ridge scored the next three goals to win by a score of 3 - 1. Greenon's record for the year is now 4-4-1 (3-2 CBC).

Greenon was tied with Kenton Ridge at halftime by a score of 1 - 1 but Bennington's goal in the second half was all they needed as they held on to win by a score of 2-1. Greenon's record for the season is now 4-0-1 in the CBC.

18 Sep 09 - Football Team Loses to Kenton Ridge 35-7....
Greenon lost to Kenton Ridge 35-7. Greenon was trailing at halftime by a score of 28-0. Sophomore quarterback Josh Pilcher tossed a 4th quarter TD pass to Jordan Christman for the Knights only score. It may have been a costly loss for the Knights as leading receiver Ritchie Burns left the game with what might have been a broken arm.

17 Sep 09 - Greenon Girls Tennis Team Loses to Stebbins....
The Greenon girls tennis team lost to Stebbins by a score of 3-2. Alex Thompson and Ally Gibbs were both victorious at singles. The win drops their record for the season to 0-13.

14 Sep 09 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Loses to Bellefontaine.....
Prior to their game tonight, the Greenon girls soccer team had never lost to Bellefontaine. That was then, this is now. Bellefontaine came from behind to defeat Greenon on the road by a score of 3-2. Greenon was ahead 2-1 but could not hold off their Bellefontaine opponent. Greenon's record for the season is now 3-3-1.

12 Sep 09 - Girls Soccer Team Loses 4-0.....
The Greenon girls soccer team lost to Wyoming 4-0. Greenon was trailing 4-0 at halftime. Junior goalie Rachel Christopher had 5 saves for the Knights. Greenon's record for the year drops to 3-2-1.

11 Sep 09 - Allie Turner Verbally Commits to Moorehead State......
Senior basketball guard Allie Turner verbally committed to Division I Moorehead State University for the 2010-2011 season. Turner is the all time scoring leader at Greenon and averaged 29.4 points per game last year as a Junior. It's believed Turner is the first Greenon girl to get a Division I basketball scholarship.

11 Sep 09 - Football Team Loses to Eaton 48-14......
Sophomore Quarterback Josh Pilcher threw two touchdown passes to Senior Ritchie Burns, including one for over 70 yards, but it wasn't enough as Eaton's offense scored 35 points in the first quarter on their way to a 48-14 win over the Knights. Greenon's record for the season drops to 1-2.

17 May 09 - Boys Baseball Team Loses Final Game to Urbana 20 - 5......
Greenon concluded their season by losting to Urbana 20 - 5 at the Dayton Dragan's Fifth Third Field. Greenon ended the season with a record of 9-17 (5-11 CBC). The season marked the final season for head coach Lonnie Robinson. Robinson coached 4 years for the Knights and compiled a record of 20 - 81 (8-56 CBC)

17 May 09 - Girls Softball Team Loses Tournament Game at Graham......
Greenon's season ended with a 1st round tournament loss at Graham High School. Greenon finished their season with a record of 3 - 23 (0-16 CBC).

02 Mar 09 - Boys Basketball Team Loses Tournament Game to Top Ranked Graham......
Greenon played Graham in a 1st round tournament game and lost 57 - 12. Graham came into the game undefeated (21 - 0) and the top ranked team in the state. Greenon's leading scorer was Freshman Josh Pilcher with 7 points. It was Greenon's last game of the season. Greenon finished with a record of 1-21 (1-15 CBC)with a squad that return's all players for next season.

21 Feb 09 - Knights Lose Opening Tournament Game to Carroll......
Number 6 seeded Greenon played # 3 seeded Carroll High School in their first tournament game of the post season and lost by a score of 50-33. Junior Allie Turner led the Knights in scoring with 23 points. It was the last game for Greenon Senior's Emily Widener, Alison Paxson, Kayla Falkenbach, and Erika Ball. Greenon ends the season with a record of 9-12 (7-9 CBC).

19 Dec 08 - Knights Lose to Graham......
Graham High School, with 4 starters returning from a State final four appearance last season, proved they are still a state calibar team this year as they jumped out to a 15-0 lead on their way to a 78-38 victory over Greenon. Greenon's Austin Wickliffe led the team in scoring with 12 points and Quinn Charney chipped in 11 points. Greenon's record for the season falls to 1-2.

18 Dec 08 - Lady Knights Fall to Urbana....Turner Gets 1,000th Point......
The Greenon Lady Knights basketball team rode the hot hand of Junior Allie Turner to take a 29-19 halftime lead but Urbana's torrid second half shooting enabled them to come from behind to defeat the Lady Knights by a score of 63-56. Turner led the Knights in scoring with 34 points, including her 1,000th point which she obtained when she converted a free throw in the 3rd quarter. After the free throw, Greenon called a timeout and Turner was given the game ball to celebrate the occassion. Turner immediately jogged into the stands and presented the ball to her grandpa and then jogged back onto the court to resume play. Greenon's record on the season is now 2-3 (2-3 CBC). Greenon Freshman Whitney Robinson was the second leading scorer for the Knights as she swished three 3-points shots.

04 Dec 08 - Turner Leads Lady Knights to Basketball Win over Stebbins..........
Greenon guard Allie Turner showed why Collegiate Division I schools are actively recruiting her as she poured in 44 of Greenon's 66 points to lead the Knights to a 66-45 victory over Stebbins. Turner was a deadeye beyond the 3 point line as she sank seven 3 point shot's, and when Stebbins tried to prevent her 3 point shot with pressure out top, Turner used her cunning moves to drive to the basket where she was able to constantly draw fouls on the Stebbins defense. Turner finished 15 - 17 from the free throw line. Greeenon's Kyra Dorney was the second leading scorer as she scored 12 points in the first half but cooled down in the second half as she was held to one 3 point basket to finish with 15 points. Greenon's record for the season is now 1-1 (1-1 CBC).

The Greenon football team lost thier final game of the season at Graham by a score of 25-19. Greenon finished the season with a record of 5-5 (2-3 in the CBC)

23 Oct 08 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Upset by Waynesville in District Tournament Game...........
The Greenon girls soccer team lost to Waynesville in a district tournament game by a score of 2-0. The score was tied at 0-0 in the first half, but in the second half waynesville score a goal when a shot deflected off the Greenon goalie and waynesville was able to convert. The Greenon boys basketball team drew an undefeated (20-0)Graham High School in a 1st round sectional basketball game played at Troy High School and lost by a score of 76-44. Greenon trailed at halftime 33-23 but Graham pulled away in the second half. Leading scorers for Greenon were Senior Zach Englefield with 14 points and Junior Quinn Charney with 12 points. Greenon finished the season with a record of 2-19 (2-14 CBC). It was the final game for Seniors Zach Englefield, Logan Dean, Ross Hale, and Joel Thompson. Senior Cheerleaders Ashlee King, Lindsey Hinton, Brittany Johnson, Amanda and Chelsea Conley also concluded their careers at Greenon.

The Greenon girls soccer team lost to Cincinnati Madeira in the regional semi-finals by a score of 3-0. Madeira scored their first goal on a penalty kick that went to the right of goalie Emma McCoy and got a fluke second goal when 4 greenon defenders surrounded the Madeira striker on the right of the goal and she somehow shot it past them to the open side of the net past goalie McCoy for a goal that gave them a 2-0 lead. The Amazons scored their final goal of the game in the second half when they got a breakaway and were able to beat goalie McCoy one on one. McCoy finished the game with 5 saves for Greenon. The game marked the final game for senior's Lauren Little and Rebecca Howard. Greenon finished the season with a record of 18-1-1 (10-0 in CBC).

Maria Franck led the Knights in scoring with 20 points and Allie Turner scored 12. The Lakers (20-1) were led by Erin Nelson's 20 points, while Brittany Johnston and Jenny Smith added 12 points. It was the last game for Greenon Senior's Maria Franck and Amy Agresta. Greenon finishes the season 8-13(3-7 CBC).

Freshman Allie Turner enrolled at Greenon High School with high expectations after setting scoring records at Indian Valley. If her debut is any type of indicator, then it won't be long until she is in the Greenon record book as she splashed onto the high school scene by scoring 24 points to lead Greenon to an easy 56-23 win over Yellow Springs. Turner was deadly from beyond the 3 point mark as she was 7-12 from 3 point range. Senior Center Maria Franck added 20 points and 6 rebounds for the Knights.

23 Oct 06 - Greenon Girls Soccer Loses Tournament Game to Graham in Overtime 2-1...........
The Greenon's girls soccer team, which has not lost to Graham in recent memory, had a stunning loss handed to them when Graham scored a "sudden death" overtime goal that rolled to the right of goalie Emma McCoy that enabled Graham to to walk away with a 2-1 overtime tournament victoryover Greenon. Greenon dominated the shots on goal in regulation but still found themselves trailing late in regulation when sophomore Leslie Oliver scored a goal on a free kick from 30 yards out with 20 minutes left in the game to tie the score at 1-1. That would be the last scoring by either team until the overtime goal by Graham. Greenon ends the season with an overall record of 10-6-2, including a 6-3-1 CBC mark (4th place). Graham's win gives them an overall record of 10-4-3, including a 3-4-3 CBC mark (5th place) and their season continues as they play Kenton Ridge in the District Finals.

Number 1 seeded Greenon lost to Bellefontaine at Greenon High School Saturday night in the Sectional Semi-Final game by a score of 1-0. Bellefontaine scored with 4 minutes left in the game to capture the win. The loss ends Greenon's season with a 9-4-4 mark.

20 Oct 06 - Greenon Football team defeats Clinches CBC Title...........
Greenon defeated Northwestern 13-7 to clinch first place in the CBC Mad River Division. Greenon was trailing 7-0 late in the 3rd period when Lance Steiner ran for a long touchdown and then Steven Jackson clinched the win for the Knights with a short TD run in the 4th period. Greenon is 4-0 in the CBC and 6-3 overall.

Greenon won their final home football game against Kenton Ridge by a score of 21-7. The win improved their record to 5-3, including 3-0 in the CBC Mad River Division. Running back Lance Steiner ran for two scores and quarterback Zack Englefield ran 56 yards for a score in the 4th quarter. Leading rushers were Lance Steiner with 132 yards on 14 carries and Steven Jackson with 127 yards on 24 carries. It was the last home game for Senior Steven Jackson who went over 1,000 yards rushing for the season during the game.

Greenon Senior's Kelly Culbertson and Sarah Crabtree were named to the CBC All League 1st Team this week. Kelly played Leftfield and Sarah played Center FIeld for the Knights. Sarah led the team in hitting with a .346 average and Kelly was the team's 4th leading hitter with a .309 average.

The Greenon girls basketball team, who had received a 1st round bye in the sectionals, lost their game to Ben Logan 48-37. The game was tied at 32-32 early in the 4th period but Ben Logan gradually pulled away. The game marked the final game for Senior's Sarah Crabtree, Stephanie Sandlin, Lauren Turner, and Kristi Morrison. Greenon had three players score the bulk of the team's points as Stephanie Sandlin, Maria Franck, and Lauren Turner combined to score 35 of the 37 points. The other 2 points were scored by Sarah Crabtree as she scored on the team's first possession by grabbing a rebound and scoring a basket. The loss drops ends the season for the Knights and drops their record for the season to 5-16.

Senior wrestler Kevin Christensen defeated Jacob Gambill of Miami East 9-3 in the 135 lb CBC championship match to get 1st place for the Knights. The win improves his record for the season to 30-3.

The Sectional draw has been set for the post season basketball tournament. On the girls side, the Greenon girls will play the winner of the Northwestern/Ben Logan Game on Saturday, February 18th at 3:00 at Vandalia. If they win, their next game would be Friday, February 24th at 8:00. The Greenon boys (3-15) drew top seeded Tipp City. Their game will be played on Friday, February 24th at Hobart Arena at 8:30.

Greenon scored 2 touchdowns in the last 90 seconds of the football game to stun Graham by a score of 22-17 to earn a share of 1st place. It was Greenon's 1st ever CBC title and their first league title since 1963. Greenon finishes the season with a record of 7-3 (4-1 CBC) and will find out if they qualified for the state playoffs.

Greenon lost their leading scorer and 4 year letter winner Lauren Masquelier in the first half when she suffered a broken leg. Greenon finished the season 11-8. (9-2 in the CBC)

It was a perfect evening - weatherwise - for Greenon's homecoming football game. The Greenon football team ensured that it was a perfect evening - on the football field - as they easily defeated Miami East by a score of 49-0. Greenon led 35-0 at halftime before calling off the dogs in the second half. The win improves their record for the season to 4-2.


16 Sep 05 - Greenon Football Team Stuns Tecumseh 10-7.............
A fired up Greenon football team never trailed and then they relied on a last second 38 yard field goal by Brad Hull to send Tecumseh home with a tough luck loss as Greenon won the game by a score of 10-7. Steven Jackson, who looked to be seriously injured in the first half, came back to score a touchdown for Greenon in the second half to spark the Knights. Tecumseh's Billy Alexander, who resides in the Greenon School District but plays for Tecumseh, led the Arrows with 69 yards rushing but his efforts fell short of gaining a win against his community high school. Greenon's win improves their record to 3-1 for the season. Tecumseh's loss drops them to 2-2 for the season.

The Greenon girls soccer team lost to Tipp City 12-0. Greenon fell behind 8-0 and never recovered. The 12 goals given up by Greenon broke the previous school record when Greenon gave up 11 goals in their state semi-final match in 2000 against Hamilton Badin. Greenon's record for the year is now 1-2.

13 April 2004 - Girls Loses Three Varsity Coaches...........
Greenon football coach Jack Hatem, Boys basketball coach Bill Smith, and girls basketball coach Dennis Henry resigned from their positions at the school board meeting held on April 13th. Henry cited family reasons. Hatem's and Smith's resignations went unexplained.


27 February 2004 - Girls Basketball Team Loses to Kenton Ridge in Sectional Finals............
The Greenon girls basketball team lost to # 1 Ranked Kenton Ridge 58-47. Greenon led at halftime 19-17. Greenon was led in scoring by Lauren Bahun with 15, Kara Englefield with 14, and Freshman Maria Franck with 9. The loss ends their season with a 14-8 record and concludes the career's of Senior's Lauren Bahun, Kara Englefield, and Leslie Clem.


21 February 2004 - Girls Basketball Team in Sectional Finals............
The Greenon girls basketball team beat Graham 56-35 on Saturday to advance to the Sectional Final game. Lauren Bahun led the way with 17 points, Kara Englefield chipped in 15, and Leslie Clem led the team in rebounding with 8 boards. The win improves Greenon's record for the season to 14 - 7 and was their 10th win in their last 13 games. Next up for Greenon is undefeated Kenton Ridge who brings a 20-0 record and a # 1 ranking to the Vandalia Athletic Center.


13 February 2004 - Girls Basketball Team Gets # 4 Seed in Sectionals............
The Greenon girls basketball team got the # 4 seed in the Division II Girls Basketball Tournament at Vandalia Butler and they will play their first game February 18th at 8:00 vs Northwestern. If they win that game, they will play Feb. 21st against Graham. If they win that game, the next opponent will likely be Kenton Ridge on February 27th.


30 January 2004 - Boys Basketball Loses at Northwestern............
The Greenon boys basketball team traveled to Northwestern for a key basketball game and lost 68-61. Leading scorer for Greenon was Nick Jackson with 20 points. The loss drops Greenon out of contention for the CBC League title as their record falls to 3-4 in the CBC and 6-8 overall.


29 January 2004 - Greenon Girls Basketball Team Wins Again............
The Greenon girls basketball team defeated Graham High School by a score of 49-37 Thursday night to improve their record to 6-2 in the CBC and 9-5 overall. Leading scorer for the Knights was Kara Englefield with 19 points.


4 December 2003 - Girls Basketball Team Loses to Kenton Ridge 71-46............
Greenon was able to stay with Kenton Ridge for the first half as they only trailed 32-28 at halftime, but eventually lost to Kenton Ridge by a score of 71-46. Leading scorer for the Knights was Lauren Bahun with 13 points. Greenon's record for the season drops to 1-1 (0-1 CBC) while Kenton Ridge improves to 3-0 (1-0 CBC).


24 October 2003 - Football Team Loses in Overtime to KR 20-14............
The Greenon football team, which led the entire game until they fell behind with 1:19 left in the game, rallied behind a 79 pass from Williams to Nick Manfred on their second play after the KR score to tie the game in regulation however; the Knights missed a field goal in overtime and Kenton Ridge scored a touchdown to win by a score of 20-14. Greenon ends the season with a record of 2-8.


23 October 2003 - Girls Soccer Loses in District Final 2-0 to Tipp City
The Greenon girls soccer team gave up an early goal and a late goal and Tipp City seemed quicker and stronger as the Knights lost by a score of 2-0. Senior's Kelli Hall and Emily Zainey played their last game for Greenon. Greenon ended the season 12-2-2.


20 October 2003 - Girls Soccer Team Wins District Semi-Final Game 3-0
The Greenon girls soccer team defeated Miami East 3-0. Greenon dominated the game and were ahead at halftime 2-0. Greenon plays the District Final game at Tipp City on Thursday.


13 October 2003 - Greenon Girls Volleyball Team Ousted From Tournament...
The Greenon girls volleyball team lost their first round tournament game against Kenton Ridge Monday night. The loss ends the season for Greenon and their final record was 0-19.


7 October 2003 - Girls Soccer Team Gets # 2 Seed in Tournament...
The Greenon girls soccer team was seeded # 2 behind Tipp City. Greenon will host a game on October 16th at 7:00 PM, and if they win will host a game on Monday October 20th. The Boys team also got a # 2 Seed, and they will host a game on October 18th at 7:00 PM, and if they win would then host a game on October 22nd.


27 September 2003 - Boys Soccer Team Defeats Yellow Springs...
The Greenon Boys Soccer team beat undefeated Yellow Springs 1-0. Anthony Parr scored the only goal for Greenon. Greenon's record improves to 8-4 with the win.


26 September 2003 - Greenon Football Team Gets First Win of Season...
Greenon defeated Northwestern 42-13. Greenon led at halftime 21-13. Michael Overholser rushed for 207 yards and a touchdown to lead the Knights. Greenon's record for the season is now 1-5 (1-0 CBC). Northwestern's record drops to 2-4 (0-1 CBC).


13 September 2003 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Loses 2-0...
The Greenon Girls Soccer team hosted Tipp City and lost 2-0. It was the first loss of the season for the team as their record drops to 5-1-1.


12 September 2003 - Greenon Football Team Loses 20-13...
In their best showing of the season the Greenon Knights football team lost a hard fought game to Tecumseh by a score of 20-13. Greenon fought back from a 20-6 deficit and were driving with less than 6 minutes left in the game when Senior Wide Receiver Mike DeBolt, who went over 100 yards receiving for the game, turned over the ball as he fumbled away the football after a reception. Greenon's record for the season is now 0-4.


30 May 2003 - Lauren Brandin Advances to State Meet...
Greenon's Lauren Brandin qualified for the State Track Meet in the Pole Vault as she finished in 2nd place in the Regionals.


25 May 2003 - Girls Track Members Advance to Regionals...
The Greenon girls track team qualified for the Regionals in the following events:

POLE VAULT: Lauren Brandin, First Place - 9 feet, 9 inches.

Below is a summary of the Greenon Sports Sports Teams for 2003:

GIRLS SOFTBALL: 3-13 in CBC, 11-14 overall. Three Seniors will graduate from the squad: Jamie Bockelman, Ashley Boldman, Ashley Slouffman.

BOYS TENNIS: 5-9 in CBC, 6-12 overall. Four Seniors will graduate from the squad: Matt Grant, Sam Lewis, Nick Smith, and Brad Slaven.

BOYS BASEBALL: 1-7 in CBC, 5-12 overall. Seniors Jeremy Leist and Jeremy Whitaker are graduating.


13 May 2003 - Greenon Softball Team Loses to BeN Logan 4-3.......
The Greenon girls softball team made a valiant comeback against Ben Logan that fell just short as they lost by a score of 4-3. Greenon, which was playing their last home game of the season, made the game exciting in the last inning. They scored one run and had the tying and winning runs in scoring position when their rally came up just short as Shannon York was retired on a hard groundball to third base to end the game. The game marked the last home game for Senior's Jamie Bockelman, Ashley Boldman, and Ashley Slouffman. The loss drops the team record to 10-14 (2-13 CBC).


8 May 2003 - Greenon Wrestling Coach Resigns.......
Greenon wrestling coach chuck dooley resigned from that position at the School Board meeting held on May 8th. Mr Dooley indicated that he had other employment opportunities that he was pursuing. Coach Dooley was the wrestling coach at Greenon for 3 years and during his tenure 7 wrestlers qualified for the State Wrestling Meet - an achievement unparalled by any other Wrestling Coach.


6 May 2003 - Greenon Softball Team Loses to Bellefontaine 3-0.......
Greenon fell behind 3-0 in the first inning and that's the way the game ended as they only managed 2 hits for the game. Greenon's record falls to 2-11 in the CBC and 10-11 overall.


24 April 2003 - Greenon Softball Team Loses to Northwestern 19-2.......
Greenon fell behind 9-0 in the second inning and never recoverd as they lost to Northwestern by a score of 19-2 in a game called after 6 innings. Hillary Skarbacz pitched the first four innings to take the loss as her record dropped to 6-7. Greenon's record falls to 2-7 in the CBC and 6-7 overall.


22 April 2003 - Greenon Softball Team Loses Heartbreaker.......
The Greenon girls softball team fell behind 2-0, rallied to take a 4-2 lead heading into sixth, then gave up 4 runs to fall behind 6-4 heading into the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th inning Greenon rallied for a run but could not tie the score as they lost 6-5. Greenon's Hillary Skrabacz pitched a complete game 9 hitter as her record dropped to 5-5 for the year (1-5 in the CBC) and the team dropped to 5-5 (1-5 CBC). Greenon's next game is against Indian Lake on 22 April.


1 March 2003 - Three Greenon Wrestlers Compete at the State Meet........
Three Greenon wrestlers competed at the 66th State Wrestling Meet and combined for 3 wins. Kevin Christensen, Zach Treolo, and Doug Szczublewski had qualified for the tournament, and Kevin came within 1 point of placing in the States. Click HERE for complete details.


28 February 2003 - Greenon Boys Team Upset In 1st Round Sectional Basketball Game........
The # 1 seeded Greenon Knights basketball team lost their 1st round tournament basketball game to Indian Lake by a score of 65-64 to end their season. Greenon was behind by 13 early, but late in the 4th period they were ahead 60-55 when Indian Lake outscored them 10-4 to end their season. Greenon Senior's Marcus Franck, Alex Deady, and Garrett Liming concluded their careers with the game. Greenon ends the season with a record of 16-4.


18 February 2003 - Marcus Franck Named as Player of the Year in the CBC Mad River Division........
Greenon's Marcus Franck, a 4 year starter for Greenon, was a unanimous choice for Player of the Year in the CBC Mad River Division. Marcus averaged 16.3 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. Marcus also led the CBC in 3 point accuracy as he hit 46 percent of his 3 point shots. Marcus is a 4 year starter for Greenon and each year the team has improved:

9th Grade: 4 - 17
10th Grade: 10 - 11
11th Grade: 18 - 6 (Sectional Champs, League Runner-Up)
12th Grade: 16 - 3 (League Champs)


13 February 2003 - Greenon Girls Lose Sectional Basketball Game to Urbana 42-37........
Greenon fell behind 6-0 in the first minute of the game but kept battling and closed the gap to 39-37 when Amelia Boyer made a lay up with 30 seconds left in the game, but Urbana held on to defeat the gritty Knights team. Kara Englefield led Greenon with 15 points. Greenon ends the season with a record of 10-11.


8 February 2003 - Two Wrestlers Grab CBC Runner Up Finishe........
Greenon's Kevin Christensen and Zach Treolo finished in 2nd place at the CBC League Wrestling Meet which was held at Graham High School.


7 February 2003 - Greenon Boys Clinch First Place with Win........
The Greenon Knights boys basketball beat Ben Logan 57-45. That win, combined with a Miami East loss to Kenton Ridge, clinched first place for Greenon in the CBC. Marcus Franck led Greenon in scoring with 24 points. Greenon improves to 16-3, 9-0 in the CBC.


2 February 2003 - Greenon Boys Get #1 Seed in Basketball Sectional........
The Greenon Boys Basketball team garnered the number 1 seed in the Division II Sectional at Hobart Arena and will be playing their 1st game on Friday, Feb. 21st at 7:15 PM at Hobart Arena against unseeded Indian Lake (9-7). If they win that game, Greenon's next game would be Tuesday, Feb. 25th at 7:00 PM against Eaton. If Greenon keeps winning, then the Sectional Final would be Friday, Feb. 28th at 7:00PM. The next game would be the District Final at UD Arena on Wednesday, March 5th at 7:15PM. Regional Semi-final would then be Thursday, March 13th at 8:00PM at the Nutter Center, and the Regional Final is Saturday, March 15th at 3:00PM at the Nutter Center.


31 January 2003 - Greenon Boys Win Last Home Game........
The Greenon boys basketball won at home against Graham 82-57 to finish the seasnon undefeated at home. Marcus Franck led all scorers with 23 points. Greenon improves to 15-2, 8-0 in the CBC. Graham drops to 4-14 (2-6 CBC).


26 January 2003 - Greenon Girls Draw Urbana for Tournament Game on Feb 13th........
The Greenon girls basketball team will play their first round tournament game against #2 Seeded Urbana on February 13th at Vandalia Butler at 7:30 PM. Urbana is currently 12-3 for the season. The winner will meet either Trotwood or Tipp City on February 15th. Greenon lost to Urbana last week 38-31.


25 January 2003 - Greenon Girls Defeat Cedarville........
The Greenon girls basketball team beat Cedarville 55-27. Kara Englefield led Greenon in points with 17 and rebounds with 16. Greenon improves their record for the season to 7-8.

The Greenon boys basketball defeated Northwestern 77-62. Greenon was in control the whole game. Greg Nickles and Nick Jackson led the Knights in scoring with 15 points. Greenon's record improves to 13-2 (7-0 CBC).

They say statistics never lie. The Greenon boys basketball team, which is in 1st place in the Mad River Division of the CBC with a 6-0 record, have some impressive stats to prove that their first place record is no fluke. Their team is 2nd in the area in offense at 65.3 points per game (compared to South who is 3rd at 61.8). Consider these individual stats:

REBOUNDING: Marcus Franck is 2nd in the area in rebounding at 10.2 per game and 1st in total rebounds with 133.

3 POINTERS: Marcus Franck is 1st in percentage at 47.2% and teammate Mike DeBolt is 2nd at 42.7%.

ASSISTS: Greg Nickles is 1st with 7.5 assist per game. Alex Deady is 5th with 4.3 per game.

The Greenon girls basketball team lost to Urbana 38-31. Greenon was led in scoring by Kara Englefield with 10 points. Greenon's record drops to 5-8 (2-4 CBC). Urbana improves to 12-3 (5-2 CBC).


17 January 2003 - Greenon Hits Free Throws to Defeat Kenton Ridge 62-55..........
The Greenon boys basketball team, which led the game from start to finish and had held Kenton Ridge to 29 points in the first three periods, survived a furious 26 point 4th quarter explosion by Kenton Ridge to hold on for a 62-55 victory. Greenon was able to protect the lead against Kenton Ridge with some dead-eye shooting at the free throw as they hit 9 of 10 free throws in the final 3 minutes to seal the win. Greenonís Nick Manfred's made 6 straight free throws during that stretch to clinch the victory for Greenon. Marcus Franck led the Knights in scoring with 15 points. Greenon's record improves to 12-2 (6-0 CBC). Miami East drops to 8-2 (4-1 CBC).


10 January 2003 - Greenon Wins to Stay Undefeated in CBC League Play..........
The Greenon boys basketball defeated Miami East 56-41 in a showdown of two teams with undefeated CBC records. Greenon takes first place with the win. Coach Smith also won his 300th career win with the victory. Greenon was led in scoring by Mike Debolt with 19 points and Marcus Franck with 16 points. Greenon's record for the season improves to 11-1 (5-0 CBC). Miami East drops to 8-2 (4-1 CBC).

The Greenon girls basketball team traveled to Tecumseh on Saturday and came away with a 54-44 victory. Greenon was led in scoring by Kara Englefield with 17 points and Lauren Bahun with 13 points. Greenon's record for the year is now 5-4.

Greenon jumped out to a 21-13 1st period lead and never looked back as they defeated Tecumseh 83-63. Mike DeBolt led the Knights in scoring with 25 points. Greenon's record for the year is now 8-1.


20 December 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Wins Against Graham.............
Greenon fell behind Graham 18-9 after one period and then roared back as they outscored Graham 56-34 the rest of the game on their way to a 65-52 victory. Mike DeBolt led Greenon is scoring with29 points and Senior Marcus Franck contributed 15 points. Greenon's record for the year is now 6-1 (3-0 CBC).


18 December 2002 - Greenon Wrestling Team Split Tri-Meet with Central/Northwestern.............
The Greenon wrestling team defeated Catholic Central 66-6 and lost to Northwestern 46-24 in a Tri-Meet held at Greeno High School. Greenon's Senior Trio of Jeremiah Lay, Doug Szcublewski, and Zach Treolo won both their matches and Freshman phenom Kevin Christensen won both of his matches. Greenon's record for the season is now 2-2.


13 December 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Defeats Northwestern.............
Greenon defeated Northwestern 78-53 at Northwestern High School Friday night. Greenon, which only led 32-30 at halftime, outscored Northwestern 46-23 in the Second Half to win easily. Leading scorer for Greenoon was Marcus Franck with 31 points. Greenon's record for the year is now 4-1 (2-0 CBC).


12 December 2002 - Greenon Girls Basketball Team Wins.............
The Greenon Girls Basketball team, after trailing at halftime by a score of 33-21, outscored Graham 35-16 as they won by a xcore of 56-49. Greenon was led in scoring by Lauren Bahun with 27 points. Greenon is now 4-2 for the season.


6 December 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Defeats Kenton Ridge.............
Former Greenon coach Kris Spriggs did not have a happy homecoming as his team was defeated by Greenon 61-43. Greenon pulled away in the second period and never looked back. Greenon was led in scoring by Mike Debolt with 27 points and Marcus Franck with 14 points. Greenon's record for the year is now 2-1 (1-0 CBC).


3 December 2002 - Greenon Wrestling Team Splits Tri-Meet with Urbana and Tecumseh.............

30 November 2002 - Greenon Girls Basketball Team Loses to Kenton Ridge.............
A much improved Greenon Girls Basketball team could not overcome a shaky start as they fell behind by 19 points in the first period before settling down on their way to a 90-65 loss to Kenton Ridge. Greenon was led in scoring by Lauren Bahun with 25 points. Greenon was also impressive at the free throw line as they made 80% (20 of 25). Greenon's record for the season drops to 1-1.


30 November 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Loses to Dayton Christian...............
The Greenon boys basketball team played at Dayton Christian on Saturday night and fell behind early and never recovered as they lost 76-61. Alex Deady scored 20 points and Marcus Franck contributed 11 points. Greenon's record for the season is now 1-1.


02 November 2002 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Loses Heartbreaker to Waynesville...............
The Greenon girls soccer team jumped out to 1-0 and 2-1 leads and controlled play for most of the game but ended up losing to Waynesville in a shootout 3-2. Greenon got ahead in the shootout 2-0 but Waynesville came back and made their last 4 shots to win the shoot out by a score of 4-3. Waynesville now moves on to the State Final Four. 30 October 2002 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Wins Regional Semi-Final Game................
The Greenon girls soccer team dominated a team from Bellville by a score of 3-0. Greenon now moves on to play Waynesville in the Regional Final on Saturday, November 2nd with the winner advancing to the State Final Four.


25 October 2002 - Greenon Football Loses Final Game 12-0................
The Greenon football season ended on a wet night at home with a 12-0 loss to Kenton Ridge. Greenon is now 1-4 in the CBC and 1-9 overall.


24 October 2002 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Win District Title in Shoot Out..........
Greenon traveled to Tipp City and defeated Tipp City in a shoot out after both teams ended up tied after regulation and two overtimes by a score of 1-1. Greenon won the shootout 4-3 with Senior Liz Markley making a diving save on the last shot to seal the victory.


23 October 2002 - Kelly Culbertson Named to First Team CBC Tennis Team..............
Freshman Kelly Culbertson, who had a 19-5 record this season playing in the number 1 singles position, was named to the First Team CBC Girls Tennis Team for Year 2002. Senior Jessica Jenkins, who sported a 14-7 record this year, was named to the honorable mention squad.


23 October 2002 - Greenon Boys Soccer Team Lose 3rd Round Tournament Game to Tipp City...........
The Greenon Boys Soccer team lost at Tipp City 2-0 in a physical game which featured many yellow cards. Greenon ended their season with a record of 11-5-3.

The Greenon Boys Soccer team defeated Kenton Ridge 2-1. Greenon improved their record for the season to 11-4-3 with the win. Josh Palmer scored a goal for Greenon.

Greenon traveled to first place Graham High School Friday night and lost by a score of 69-0. Senior Quarterback Garrett Liming went down with an injury that appeared to be a broken wrist. Next game is against Kenton Ridge. Greenon is now 1-3 in the CBC and 1-8 overall.

The Greenon Girls Soccer team is ranked 8th in the State Division II Poll with a record of 11-1-3.


14 October 2002 - Greenon Volleyball Team Loses Tournament Game................
The Greenon Girls Volleyball team lost to Milton Union 15-1 and 15-6 to end their season with only one win. Seniors Stacie Crabtree and Lauren Brandin played their last game for Greenon.


11 October 2002 - Greenon Football Team Loses Homecoming game 33-29................
Greenon was ahead at halftime and after 3 quarters but they couldn't hold on as Ben Logan scored a touchdown with about 5 minutes left in the game to defeat Greenon 33-29. Greenon was led by Marcus Franck who scored 3 touchdowns and ran for 146 yards. The loss spoiled a beatiful homecoming night that saw Krista Williams get named the Greenon Homecoming Queen for 2002. Greenon is now 1-2 in the CBC and 1-7 overall.


4 October 2002 - Greenon Football Team Wins 21-0................
Greenon beat Miami East by a score of 21-0 last night. The win broke a string of losses that goes back to Friday, October 13th Year 2000. Marcus Franck ran the ball 28 times for 178 yards and scored a touchdown. Greenon is now 1-1 in the CBC.


3 October 2002 - Kelly Culbertson Advances to the District Tournament..............
Freshman Kelly Culbertson won 4 matches at the Troy Sectional Tennis Tournament to advance to the District Tournament next Thursday and Saturday at Tom Cloud Park. Kelly has a season record of 18-3 with the wins. Greenon's Jessica Jenkins, Sarah DeLong and Sarah Foster all won first round matches before being eliminated.


1 October 2002 - Girls Tennis Team Defeats Kenton Ridge to Improve to 13-5..............
Although the CBC League does not have an award for "Most Improved Team", there is no question the Greenon Knights Tennis team would be a cinch to win the award this year as they added to their Cinderalla seasonby defeating Kenton Ridge 3-2. The singles group of Kelly Culbertson, Jennifer Raber, and Jessica Jenkins all won their matches to clinch the victory for greenon. The win improves the Greenon team record to 12-5, which more than triples last year's total of four wins, and enabled the Knights to win for the sixth time in their last 7 matches, including four wins in a row to end the regular season. The victory also moved Greenon into sole possession of Third Place in the CBC with a league record of 9-4.


27 September 2002 - Greenon Football Team Drops Close Game to Northwestern 14-12................
Greenon scored a late TD but were unable to convert the 2 point conversion as they lost 14-12. Greenon's Garrett Liming threw a TD pass to Mike DeBolt and Marcus Franck had a 4 yard Touchdown run for Greenon. Greenon is now 0-6 (0-1 CBC).


25 September 2002 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Defeats Graham 5-2................
The Greenon girls soccer team defeated Graham 5-2 Wednesday night at Graham to improve their record for the season to 7-1-2. Next game is Saturday at Cincinnati Indian Hills.

The Greenon girls tennis team defeated Tecumseh 3-2. Greenon's record for the season improves to 11-5.


20 September 2002 - Greenon Football Team Loses to Tipp City 42-0................
The Greenon football team played at home against a tough Tipp City squad on a field drenched by rainfall and lost 42-0. Greenon is now 0-5 for the season.


14 September 2002 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Ties Tipp City 1-1................
The Greenon Girls Soccer team jumped out to a 1-0 lead and held on most of the game until Tipp City converted a penalty kick late in the game on the way to a 1-1 tie. Greenon's record on the season is now 4-1 with 2 ties.


13 September 2002 - Greenon Football Team Loses to Tecumseh 30-0................
Greenon could manage only 35 yards total offense on their way to a 30-0 defeat to Tecumseh on a warm, muggy Friday the 13th. Greenon is now 0-4 for the season.


12 September 2002 - Greenon Girls Tennis Team Defeats Bellefontain 4-1................
The Greenon girls tennis team, which has been playing most of their matches in unseasonably hot weather this year, continued to stay hot themselves this week as they headed "North" this week to play matches at Kenton Ridge, Urbana, and Bellefontaine. Greenon won two of the matches as they defeated Kenton Ridge 5-0 and Bellefontaine 4-1. Sandwiched in between those games was a 5-0 loss to Urbana. Leading the way for Greenon this week were Number 1 Single's Player Kelly Culberston who went undefeated with 3 wins during the week to improve her regular season record to 7-1. Number 2 Single's player Jennifer Raber went 2-1 to improve to 6-5 for the season, and Senior Jessica Jenkins notched 2 wins to improve to 7-4. In Double's play, Senior Sarah DeLong won two doubles matches to even her record for the season at 4-4, and Senior Jennifer Cyr also won two doubles matches.


6 September 2002 - Greenon Football Team Loses to Mechanicsberg 19-7................
Greenon led most of the way before giving up to late scores as they lost by a score of 19-7. Senior running back Marcus Franck scored the only touchdown on an 88 Yard Scamper. Greenon is now 0-3 for the season.


30 August 2002 - Greenon Football Team Loses to Shawnee 46-27................
Greenon played their first home game of the season and jumped out to a 14-0 lead before watching Shawnee roar back to outscore them 46-13 the rest of the game. Greenon, which is searching for it's first victory since 13 Oct 2000, drops to 0-2, 1-1 in the CBC.

The Greenon girls softball team started out their season against West Liberty Salem and lost by a score of 5-0. Hillary Skrabacz took the loss for Greenon.

The Greenon boys basketball team lost to State Ranked Roger Bacon by a score of 81-36. Greenon only trailed 28-17 at halftime before the bigger, stronger and quicker roger Bacon team pulled away. Greenon ends their season 18-6.


1 MARCH 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Wins Sectional Championship...........
The Greenon boys basketball team defeated Kenton Ridge 83-76 to claim the Sectional Championship. In a somewhat ironic twist of matchups, Kenton Ridge Coach Kris Spriggs, who used to be the Greenon Coach until he left, was defeated by Greenon Coach Bill Smith, who used to be the Kenton Ridge Coach. We're glad to have Coach Smith on our side. Next game for Greenon is Wednesday, March 6th at UD Arena at 7:15PM. Greenon's record for the season is 18-5.


26 FEBRUARY 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Advances in Tournament Play...........
Greenon defeated Greenview 54-49 Tuesday night at Hobart Arena in a Boys Division II Second Round Basketball game. Greenon will now advance to play Kenton Ridge on Friday, 1 March at 7:00PM at Hobart Arena. Greenon's record for the year improves to 17-5.


23 FEBRUARY 2002 - Two Greenon Wrestlers Qualify for State Tournament......
The Greenon High School wrestling team had two individual wrestlers qualify for the State Wrestling Meet in Columbus, Ohio next week as Sean Christensen finished in 3rd Place in the 152 lb weight class and Chris Wolf took 4th place in the 215 lb weight class. The top 4 wrestlers from each weight division advance to the State Meet. This is the first time in memory that Greenon was able to send two wrestler's to the state in consecutive seasons.


16 FEBRUARY 2002 - Greenon Advances Four Wrestlers to the District Tournament......
The Greenon Knights advanced four wrestlers to the District Wrestling Meet February 22nd and 23rd as Doug Szczublewski (4th in 119 lbs), Zach Treolo (4th in 130 lbs), Sean Christensen (3rd in 152 lbs), and Chris Wolf (3rd in 215 lbs) all placed in the top four positions in their weight classes. Senior Sean Christensen will be attempting a rare feat - to repeat as a State Qualifier. Last year Sean qualified for the State Tournament in the 145 pound weight class. Greenon finished in 9th place in the team standings.


15 FEBRUARY 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Loses Showdown Game 42-35...........
In a "winner take all game" played at a sold out Greenon High School Gymnasium, the Greenon Knights took a 31-29 lead into the last period but were unable to hold on as they lost to Miami East 42-35. Greenon's record for the season ends at 15-5 (8-2 CBC) while Miami East's record ends at 16-4 (9-1 CBC).


13 FEBRUARY 2002 - Greenon Girls Lose Tournament Game in Overtime.......
The Lady Knights Basketball team lost to Indian Lake 47-46 Wednesday night at Vandalia Butler. The loss ended their season at 10-11. Kara Englefield led the way with 20 points.


2 FEBRUARY 2002 - Greenon Boys Nab #2 Seed in First Round Sectional Tournament Game........
The #2 Seeded Greenon boys basketball team opens Sectional Play on Friday, Feb. 22nd at 7:00PM at Hobart Arena against Indian Lake. If victorious, their second round game would be against Greenview at Hobart Arena on Monday, Feb. 25th at 8:30 PM. Their 3rd round game would be played on Friday, March 1st at 7:00PM against either Northwestern, Tippecanoe, or Kenton Ridge. The 4th round district final game would be played at UD Arena on Wednesday, March 6th at 7:00PM.


2 FEBRUARY 2002 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Defeats Shawnee 68-42.......
Greenon turned a close 1st quarter game into a route as they easily defeated the hapless Shawnee Braves by a score of 68-42. Greenon's record for the season improves to 13-4. Shawnee's record drops to 5-12.


2 FEBRUARY 2002 - Greenon Girls Defeat Northeastern 53-33.......
The Greenon girls basketball team rolled to an easy 53-33 victory over Northeastern Saturday. The win improves their record for the season to 9-9. Amelia Boyer and Kara Englefield led the team in scoring with 11 points each.


27 JANUARY 2002 - Greenon Girls Draw Indian Lake in Sectional Tournament Drawing........
The Greenon girls basketball team will play Indian Lake at Vandalia High School on Wednesday, February 13th at 9:00PM. If they win that game, they will play Saturday, Feburary 16th at 6:00PM against the winner of the Kenton Ridge/Eaton game. Kenton Ridge and Eaton play their 1st round game prior to the Greenon/Indian Lake game at 7:30.


19 JANUARY 2002 - Greenon Girls Upset Urbana 52-48.........
Greenon's Kara Englefield led Greenon to a win over Urbana as she scored a game high 22 points. Greenon led 26-21 at halftime and held on for the win. Greenon's record for the year improves to 6-8, while Urbana's record drops to 9-6.


15 JANUARY 2002 - Greenon Hires New Football Coach.........
Greenon hired Jack Hatem as their new football coach today. Jack comes from Colorodo's Arvada West High School where he was 11-9 the past two years. Hatem was one of 50 applicants for the position. Coach Hatem coached Columbus Watterson to the Division II state baseball title in 1991.


13 JANUARY 2002 - Greenon Boys Drops Heartbreaker to Tipp City 53-52.........
Senior Josh Elliiott led Greenon in scoring with 22 points and was a key contributor to a furious 4th quarter rally by Greenon but when Greenon needed his points the most he came up just short as he missed a potential game winning shot in the waning moments as Greenon lost to Tipp City 53-52. Marcus Franck contributed 11 points for the Knights who saw their record for the year drop to 8-3.


12 JANUARY 2002 - Greenon Girls Basketball Team Loses to North 70-62.........
The Greenon girls basketball team held a lead for the first 3 quarters but Springfield North took charge in the 4th period to defeat Greenon. Amelia Boyer led Greenon in scoring with 20 points. Greenon's record for the year drops to 4-7. The Greenon Reserve's won their game 28-27. Sophomore Erin Carver led the team in scoring with 7 points.


28 DECEMBER 2001 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Defeats Tecumseh 62-50.........
The Greenon boys basketball team defeated Tecumseh 62-50. Greenon won with a balanced attack as Ryan Linch, Marcus Franck, Bryan Thompson, and Jose Elliott all scored between 9-11 points. Greenon's record for the year improves to 6-1.


27 DECEMBER 2001 - Greenon Girls Basketball Team Defeats Tecumseh 62-53.........
The Greenon girls basketball team overcame a sluggish first half and came roaring back in the second hald to defeat Tecumseh 62-53. Greenon only had 23 points at halftime but they doubled that figure with a 23 point outburst in the 3rd quarter. Amelia Boyer sparked the Knights as she ended up scoring a career high 21 points. 21 DECEMBER 2001 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Defeats Graham 66-62.........
The Greenon boys basketball team led the whole second half but could not put a pesky Graham team away until the final seconds when Bryan Thompson hit two free throws to clinch the victory. Point guard Greg Nickles handed out several assists, particulary to Marcus Franck underneath as Marcus scored an unselfish 14 points to help lead the Knights to victory. Senior Josh Elliott was able to drain some "one on one" baskets in the first half but when his shooting fell off in the second half Greg and Marcus were there to rescue the Knights for a victory. Greenon's record for the year improves to 5-1 (2-1 CBC).


20 DECEMBER 2001 - Greenon Girls Basketball Team Loses to Ben Logan 42-32.........
The Greenon girls basketball team played Ben Logan High Thursday night and lost 42-32. Greenon led at halftime by a score of 17-16. Leading scorer for Greenon was Amelia Boyer with 12 points. Greenon's record for the year is now 2-4 (0-4 CBC).


7 DECEMBER 2001 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Loses CBC Opener to Kenton Ridge 68-60.........
The Greenon boys basketball team fell behind early by a score of 27-10 and then roared back t tie the game in the 3rd period before losing to Kenton Ridge Friday night by a score of 68-60. Marcus Franck and Alex Deady led the Knights in scoring with 17 points each. Greenon's record for the year is now 1-1 (0-1 CBC).

The Greenon girls basketball team ran into a State Title Contending team in Kenton Ridge and lost by a score of 108-50. The win drops Greenon's record for the year to 1-1.


26 NOVEMBER 2001 - Greenon's Laura Culberston named Springfield News-Sun Player of the Year.........
Greenon's Laura Culbertson added yet another award Monday when she was named the Springfield News-Sun Player of the year in girls tennis. Laura also won the award last year. What a way to cap a stellar 4 year varsity career at Greenon. Congratulations to Laura.


23 NOVEMBER 2001 - Greenon's Laura Culberston named Clark County Player of the Year.........
Laura Culbertson added another award to her resume as she was named the Springfield News-Sun Clark County Player of the Year in girls tennis. Laura compiled a 26-3 record this year and qualified for the State tournament for the second straight year.


23 NOVEMBER 2001 - Greenon Girls Basketball Team Wins Opener.........
The Greenon girls basketball team jumped out to a 12-2 1st quarter lead and never looked back as they defeated Shawnee by a score of 40-28. Lauren Bahun led them in scoring with 16 points and Freshman Amelia Boyer chipped in with 9 points, including a 3 pointer.

Greenon football Coach Tim Carver, who led his team to an 0-10 record this year, submitted his resignation as football coach at Greenon High School. Tim coached 3 years at Greenon and comiled a 10-19 record, but was 3-19 in the last two seasons. A search for a new coach will begin immediately.


27 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon Boys Soccer Team Upset's Undefeated Tipp City 4-3.....
The Greenon boy's soccer team traveled to undefeated Tipp City to fact Tippecanoe in the Division II District Finals and came away with a 4-3 overtime victory behind 3 goals by Josh Elliot. The victory advances the squad to the Regional Semi-finals.


26 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon Football Team Loses to Kenton Ridge.....
Greenon Head Football Coach Tim Carver led his team onto the field for one last chance at gaining a win this season and put on a good effort but came up short as they lost to Kenton Ridge by a score of 27-13. Greenon ends the season winless with a record of 0-10.


25 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Ends Season with Overtime Loss.....
The Greenon Girls Soccer team met Tipp City in the District Finals and lost in overtime. The Knights end their season with a record of 9-5 (with 5 ties).


19 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon's Laura Culbertson Compete's in State Tennis Tournamnent.....
Greenon Senior Laura Culbertson played against Laura Mauer of Bay Village Bay in the OHSAA Girls Division II State Tennis Tournament Friday and lost by score of 6-0, 6-1. The loss ends another successfull season for Laura - and as it turns out Culbertson's opponent was a tough draw as her opponent advanced to the Semi-Finals. This was the second consecutive year Laura has qualified for the State Tournament and in the last two years she was 37-0 in regular season matches.


19 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon Football Team Loses 35-10.....
Greenon jumped out to a 10-0 lead and then saw Graham score 35 straight points as they lost to Graham in their final home game of the year by a score of 35-10. Ryan Linch tossed a 50 yard TD pass to Zach Gross for Greenon's only touchdown of the night. Greenon's last game is next week at Kenton Ridge. Greenon's record for the year drops to 0-9.


18 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon Girls Soccer Team Upsets #2 Seeded Anna 3-0.....
Last year, Greenon advanced to the State Semi-Final Tournament. This year, an unseeded Greenon High School took the 1st step towards another state berth by dominating #2 seeded Anna High School Thursday night with a 3-0 victory. Sophomore Kelli Hall scored two goals and Emily Zainey scored the other goal for Greenon. Greenon advances to second round action on Monday against Bethel High School in a game that will be played at Greenon High School.


13 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon's Laura Culbertson Returning to State Tennis Tournamnent.....
Greenon Senior Laura Culbertson went 3-1 in four match's to qualify for for the Division II State Tennis Tournament for the Second Consecutive Year by winning the Back Draw Division II District Finals at Princeton High School Saturday. Culbertson's journey started Thursday when she defeated 3rd Seeded Caitlan Newman of Oakwood 6-1, 6-1 in the 1st round, lost in the 2nd round to #1 Seeded Alex Gross 2-6, 1-6, and then she returned on Saturday and won in the 3rd round against #2 Seeded Audra Beckett 6-3, 0-6, 7-5, and then won the back draw finals in the 4th round by defeating #3 Seeded Heather Butt of Bishop Fenwick 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. That win qualified her for the State Tennis Tournament at the Stickney Tennis Center at The Ohio State University on October 20th. It's believed that Laura is the first girl at Greenon to qualify for the State Tennis Tournament Twice.


12 OCTOBER 2001 - Greenon Football Team Loses 57-26.....
Greenon Football Coach Tim Carver's squad lost to Benjamin Logan Friday night by a score of 57-26. Greenon was behind early and trailed at halftime by a score of 43-10. Ryan Linch ran for two touchdowns and Marcus Franck ran for another. Coach Carver will lead his team against Graham next Friday at Greenon in the final home game of the year. Greenon's record for the season drops to 0-8.

On a rainy Friday night Greenon hosted Miami East and lost 27-0. Greenon only trailed 7-0 but when Miami East returned the second half kickoff for a touchdown the "floodgate opened and the dam burst". Greenon's record for the season drops to 0-7.

Greenon hosted Indian Hill High School Saturday and lost by a score of 6-1. Greenon's record drops to 4-4 (with 4 tie's).

Greenon jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead and then watched Northwestern outscore them 28 -0 the rest of the game as they lost by a final score of 28-13. Greenon's record for the year drops to 0-6.

Greenon traveled to Tipp City Friday night and lost 41-7. Greenon trailed 14-0 at halftime and then Tipp City pulled away in the second half. Greenon scored it's only touchdown in the 3rd quarter when Quarterback Ryan Linch hit Marcus Franck for an 11 yard TD pass. Greenon's record for the season is now 0-5. Tipp City's record improves to 3-2.

Greenon and Tipp City played to a 0-0 tie Saturday night. Greenon goalie Liz Markley made several nice saves in the second half to allow Greenon to escape with the tie. Greenon's record for the season is now 2-2-3 (2 wins, 2 losses, 3 ties).

An overmatched Greenon football team fell behind 35-0 in the 1st period on their way to a 63-0 loss to Tecumseh Friday Night. The Greenon Football team dominated Fairborn until the 4th Quarter and Fairborn blocked a Greenon punt in the last two minutes and scored the game winning touchdown shortly after that to escape with a 28-25 victory before a packed house at Greenon High School.

The Greenon girls tennis team lost their CBC opener to Bellefontaine 4 -1. Senior Laura Culberston won her match to improve her record to 2-0.


20 JUNE 2001 - Enon Lioness Fastpitch Team Takes 1st Place in County with Perfect Record......
The Enon Lioness Girls Fastpitch team successfully defended their County League Softball Crown as they beat Possum 11-5 to finish the regular season in 1st Place with a perfect 12-0 record. This is the second year in a row the team has taken 1st Place in the County League as last years squad also took 1st Place with an 11-1 record. 4 JUNE 2001 - Lindsey Liming Makes 1st Team ALL-CBC in Girls Softball......
Senior Outfielder Lindsey Liming was the only Greenon Girl to make the ALL CBC Girls Softball 1st Team for Year 2001. Greenon finished 6th out of 8 CBC teams in the League this year but they were very competitive in most of their games.


2 JUNE 2001 - Jacob McCauley Wins State for Greenon in the 1600......
Senior Jacob McCauley took 1st place in the 1600 Meter Run and 2nd Place in the 800 Meter run for Greenon at the Division II State Track Meet.


10 May 2001 - Greenon Girls Track Team Takes 2nd Place in CBC......
The Greenon girls track team finished runner-up to Shawnee in the Girls CBC Track Meet held at Urbana High School on Thursday. Greenon had two individual champions as Stacie Crabtree took 1st place in the High Jump (5' 2 1/2") and Renee D'Aloiso took 1st place in the Discus Throw (113-6). Other girls placing were Amanda Husted who took 2nd place in the 3,200 Meter Run and 3rd in the 1,600 Meter Run, Jessica Jenkins who finished 2nd in the Discus Throw and 3rd in the Shot Put, and Stacie Crabtree who took 3rd in the 300 Meter Hurdles.


10 May 2001 - Greenon Boys Track Team Takes 6th Place in CBC......
The Greenon boys track team took 6th place in the CBC League Meet held at Urbana High School Thursday. Jacob McCauley took 1st place for Greenon in the 1,600, 800, and 3,200 meter run events.


7 May 2001 - Greenon Girls Softball Drops Tournament Opener to Shawnee......
Shawnee defeated Greenon in opening round tournament play by a score of 4-2. Lindsi Pierce got the victory and Hillary Scarbacz took the loss. Greenon finishes the season 13-11.

21 APRIL 2001 - McCauley Sets Two Records at Track Meet.......
Greenon's Jacob McCauley won three events and set two meet records in the Bulldog Track Classic at Milton-Union. McCauley won the 800 (1:59:0), 1,600 (4:24:2) and the 3,200 (9:51.2) meter runs and set meet records with his times in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter race.

The Greenon Varsity Softball Team lost to Tecumseh on Monday by a score of 11-5. Tecumseh jumped out to an 11-0 lead and it proved to be too much for Greenon to overcome. Greenon's Hillary Scarbacz went the distance for Greenon, allowing all 11 runs on 16 hits. Greenon's defense committed 9 errors behind her. Greenon's record for the year drops to 2-3 in the CBC. 27 MARCH 2001 - Greenon Girls Softball Team Wins Opener.........
Sophomore pitcher Amy Karbasi notched a complete game victory for Greenon as they defeated West Liberty-Salem 8-2 in the opener for both teams. Greenon's Katie Carver broke the game open with a bases loaded double in the 5th inning that knocked in three runs to lead the offense. Greenon is now 1-0 for the season. The Greenon Reserves also won as they defeated the West Liberty Salem Reserves 8-6 behind the complete game pitching of Amanda Honchell.


25 MARCH 2001 - Greenon Wrestler Named to ALL-AREA Team.........
Greenon Senior J.R. Mock was named to the ALL-AREA Wrestling Team by the Springfield News Sun Paper. J.R. made ALL-AREA in the 152 lb weight class. His record for the season was 30-7 with 23 pins and he was also a State Qualifier. J.R. is the only wrestler from Clark County to make the ALL-AREA Team.

The Greenon boys basketball team will play their 1st tournament game on Saturday, February 24th against Bellefontaine at Troy's Hobart Arena at 8:30PM. If Greenon wins that game they would then play against Shawnee on Tuesday, February 27th at 8:30 PM. at Hobart Arena. If Greenon beats Shawnee, they would play in the Hobart Finals on Friday, March 2nd at 8:30PM. Winner of that game advances to the Dayton District for a game on March 8th at 7:15PM.


16 FEBRUARY 2001 - Greenon Boys Basketball Team Upsets Shawnee 64-60.......
The Greenon boys basketball team ended their regular season with an overtime victory at Shawnee 64-60. Point guard Greg Nickles scored five of Greenon's nine points in overtime to lead them to victory. Marcus Franck led all scorer's with 20 points. Greenon ends the regular season at 10-10 (8-6 CBC). Greenon's next game is Saturday, Feb 24th at Troy's Hobart Arena. If Greenon wins that game, then they would advance to play Shawnee in the 2nd round of the tournament.


14 FEBRUARY 2001 - Greenon Girls End Season with Loss to Oakwood........
The Greenon girls basketball team lost a 1st round tournament game to Oakwood on Valentine's day by a score of 46-25. Greenon ends the year with a record of 3-18.

10 FEBRUARY 2001 - 7th Grade Indian Valley Team in SemiFinals of Urbana Tournament.........
The Indian Valley 7th Grade Girls basketball team, with a record of 11-1, have now advanced to the semifinals of the Urbana basketball tournament. They will play Northridge (from Kenton Ridge School District) on Saturday and if they win the finals will be held at Urbana High School on Monday.


9 FEBRUARY 2001 - Greenon boys basketball team loses 64-56........
Northeastern suprised Greenon on their home floor with a 64-56 win. Greenon trailed throughout the game. Leading scorer for Greenon was Marcus Franck with 18 points. Greenon's record drops to 8-11 (6-6 CBC)while Northeastern's record improves to 4-14 (3-9 CBC). Northeastern's reserves beat Greenon 52-51.


8 FEBRUARY 2001 - Greenon girls basketball team defeated by Shawnee 46-43........
Greenon led most of the way but in the end Shawnee came out on top 46-43. Nicole Hart led Greenon in scoring with 18 points and Jessica King added 10 points. Greenon's record on the year drops to 3-17 (2-12 CBC). The Greenon Reserve team won 54-30.

On a night where Greenon was honoring it's "Senior" Players, Greenon's Jason Dalzell, the only Senior on the Greenon Basketball Team, seized the moment by scoring a career and game high 26 points to lead Greenon to an 88-66 victory over Ben Logan. Greg Nickles and Ryan Linch added 13 points for the Knights. The win improves Greenon's record for the year to 7-9.

The Greenon boys basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Shawnee 64-61 Friday night at Greenon. Mike Debolt missed a 3 point shot at the buzzer which could have sent the game into overtime. Greenon was led in scoring by Brian Thompson and Marcus Franck with 16 points. Greenon "ironman" playmaker Greg Nickles fouled out with 2 minutes left and the team struggled to run the offense at the end with him on the bench. Greenon's record for the year drops to 5-7 (4-3 CBC). In the Reserve game, Shawnee defeated Greenon 51-49. Ben Thompson led Shawnee in scoring with 15 points.

The Greenon boys basketball team beat Tecumseh 60-40. Greenon held a 31-20 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half. Greenon's balanced scoring attack was led by Greg Nickles with 14 points, Marcus Franck with 13 and Alex Deady with 11. The win improved Greenon's record for the year to 5-4 (4-2 CBC).

The Greenon Boys basketball team came from 16 points down to take a lead in the 4th quarter only to lose to Kenton Ridge 62-60 at Greenon High School Friday night. Greenon was led in scoring by Marcus Franck with 29 points. Greenon's record for the year drops to 2-4 (1-2 CBC). Kenton Ridge improves to 4-2 (3-0 CBC). The Greenon Reserves won 49-45.


16 DECEMBER 2000 - CBC TO HAVE "NEW LOOK" NEXT YEAR................
The new CBC league for the 2001-2002 season will consist of twelve teams divided into two divisions:

DIVISION A: Tecumseh, Tipp City, Bellefontaine, Shawnee, Urbana, and Indian Lake.


DIVISION B: Greenon, Graham, Ben Logan, Kenton Ridge, Northwestern, and Miami East

15 DECEMBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM DEFEATS NORTHWESTERN 62-45......
Greenon defeated winless Northwestern at Home Friday night 62-45. Greenon led 39-22 at halftime and never looked back. Marcus Frank and Josh Elliott led the way with 19 points each. Greenon's record improves to 2-3 (1-1 in CBC). The Greenon Reserve team defeated Northwestern in overtime 41-36.


14 DECEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO KENTON RIDGE 102-46......
Greenon jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and then watched Kenton Ridge race to 40-6 1st quarter lead Thursday Night as they lost to Kenton Ridge. Nicole Hart led Greenon with 11 points. The loss drops Greenon's record on the year to 1-5 (0-3 in CBC). The Greenon Reserves also lost to Kenton Ridge by a score of 52-38. Leslie Clem led the way for Greenon with 11 points.


1 DECEMBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO YELLOW SPRINGS 86-76......
Greenon almost overcame a huge 24-12 deficit but ultimately lost to Yellow Springs 86-76 in the 1st round of the Fairborn Tip-off Classic. Greenon was led by sophomore Alex Deady with 23 points. Greenon plays in the consolation game Saturday at 6:30. Greenon's record is now 0-1.


30 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO BELLEFONTAINE 47-32......
Greenon fell behind 13-4 and couldn't recover as they lost to Bellefontaine Thursday by a score of 47-32. Lauren Bahun's 12 points led the Knights who's record dropped to 1-2 for the year.


11 NOVEMBER 2000 - HAMILTON BADIN LOSES 4-1 IN GIRLS STATE SOCCER FINALS........
Hamilton Badin, which beat Greenon 11-1 in the State Semi Finals, lost to Walsh Jesuit 4-1 in the Girls Division II State Finals Saturday. Walsh Jesuit finished the season 21-0-1.


12 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRL MAKES 1ST TEAM NEWS-SUN ALL AREA IN TENNIS.......
Greenon's Laura Culbertson continued raking in the post season awards by being named to the First Team News-Sun All Area Girls Tennis Team. She had already been named to the First Team All County Team. Congratulations, Laura.


8 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM LOSES 11-1........
The Greenon girls soccer team concluded their season by losing to Hamilton Badin 11-1 in the State Semi finals. Greenon got behind early and was trailing at halftime 7-0. Greenon's only goal was scored by April Foster.


4 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON HAS CROSS COUNTRY STATE CHAMPION!!!!!!!........
Greenons Jacob McCauley won the Boys Division II State Cross Country Race Saturday by running a personal best 15:39 to win the Division II state meet Saturday at Scioto Downs. Teammate Josh Gilbert, who is only a freshman, placed 52nd in the state with a time of 16:46. In the Girls Divsion, Sophomore Amanda Husted, who was the areas lone representative in the Division II Girls race, placed 52nd with a time of 20:21.


4 NOVEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER ADVANCES TO STATE WITH 3-2 VICTORY........
Greenon defeated Clear Fork 3-2 to advance to the State Semi Finals. Greeenons next game will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8th at Cincinnati Winton Woods High School against Hamilton Badin. Hamilton Badin qualified for the state be defeating Cincinnati Indian Hill 3-1. Greenon had played and lost to Cincinnati Indian Hill during the regular season by a score of 1-0.


27 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES FINAL GAME 22-14....
Greenon lost it's final game of the football season to Urbana 22-14. Greenon trailed 15-8 at halftime and closed the gap to 15-14 after 3 quarters but Urbana hung on for the victory. Greenon finishes the season 4-6 (2-5 CBC). Bellefontaine ended up winning the last CBC League Title by defeating Shawnee 50-0.


26 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM ARE DISTRICT CHAMPS!!..........
The top seeded Greenon Girls Soccer team survived a shoot out against Tipp City to win their Dstrict Final game by a score of 2-1. The game was tied at 1-1 after regulation, and after two scoreless overtime periods the contest went to a shoot-off. Amy Cordova, Lindsay Liming, and Kristen Wiland all converted their kicks as Greenon won the shoot out 3-2 when Greenon Goalie Liz Markley stopped the last shot by Tipp City with an incredible diving, one hand extended block. Next game is a regional contest on the road on Wednesday, 1 November 2000 at 7:00 PM.


21 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER TEAM ELIMINATED FROM TOURNAMENT..............
The 2nd seeded Greenon Knights boys soccer team was upset by Shawnee 4-0 in a Division II District Quarterfinal match Saturday night at Greenon. Greenon had defeated Shawnee during the regular season 10-0. Greenon finish's the year with a record of 12-5-1 while Shawnee's record improved to 8-9-1.


20 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON TENNIS PLAYER ELIMINATED FROM STATE TOURNAMENT....
Greenon's Laura Culbertson lost her state tennis match to Maaria Husain of Marion Pleasant 6-2, 6-1 to finish the season with a 25-3 record.


20 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES TO KENTON RIDGE 20-8....
Once again the weather was unseasonably warm for the Greenon football game friday but tonight it was Kenton Ridge who warmed up with 2 long TD's to defeat Greenon 20-8. Greenon scored a TD on it's first drive when Cris Waddle ran in from 18 yards but was shut out the rest of the way. Kenton Ridge pulled away from an 8-8 halftime score as wide receiver Seth Tippie caught a 72 yard TD pass in the 3rd quarter and a 31 yard TD pass in the 4th quarter. Greenon's record for the year is now 4-5 (2-4 in CBC)and Kenton Ridge's record improves to 1-8 (1-5 CBC).


19 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM WINS 1ST TOURNAMENT GAME..............
The Greenon Knights girls soccer team beat Urbana 5-0 in a 1st round matchup. Greenon hosts Kenton Ridge on Monday, 23 October in a 2nd round match.


16 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM ADVANCES IN TOURNAMENT....
The improving Greenon Girls Volleyball team eliminated Kenton Ridge from the Division II Sectional Tournament 10-15, 17-15, 15-11. Next game for Greenon is against Tipp City Wednesday at 6 PM at Tecumseh High School.


13 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS NORTHEASTERN 22-13....
On a unseasonably warm Friday the 13th, it was the Northeastern football team who had some bad luck as Greenon came from behind to win 22-13. Greenon trailed throughout the game until there was 2:14 left but Greenon scored 14 points at the end of the game to pull out the victory. Steve Leonard had two TD's for Greenon and Justin Wellman returned a kickoff 93 yards for the other TD. Greenon improved to 4-4 (2-3 in CBC) with the victory.

Greenon's Laura Culbertson won the Girls Tennis Sectional Singles Title this weekend and will represent Greenon in the District Tournament. Laura was the number 1 seed going into the Sectionals as she was undefeated during the regular season. Congratulations Laura and good luck in the Districts!


6 OCTOBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES HOMECOMING GAME 20-0....
On a crisp, cool night conducive to football weather the Greenon Knights offense came up short against Tecumseh 20-0. Tecumseh was able to score after two Greenon fumbles in the 1st half to take a 14-0 halftime lead. The loss drops Greenon's record for the year to 3-4 (1-3 CBC). The Greenon Knights girls soccer team defeated Kenton Ridge 5-0 and the boys soccer team defeated Kenton Ridge 2-0 to clinch 1st place for both teams in the CBC. Both teams are undefeated in the CBC this year.

29 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS 14-8..............
The Greenon Knights Football team showed some savy by scoring two touchdowns in the last 5 minutes of the game to defeat Northwestern 14-8. Steve Leonard scored the first TD with 4:56 left in the game and then Cris Waddle's 36 yard TD run with 2:28 left won the game for Greenon. The win improves Greenon's record for the year to 3-3 (1-2 CBC). Northwestern's record drops to 2-4 (1-2 CBC). The Greenon Knights girls soccer team beat Catholic Central 6-2. Greenon trailed 2-0 at halftime but scored 6 unanswered goals in the 2nd half to take the victory. Kristen Wiland scored 3 goals to lead the Knights. The win improves their record to 7-2. Next game is Monday, 25 September at home against Fairborn High School.


22 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES CLOSE BATTLE TO SHAWNEE 27-20..............
The Shawnee Braves scored a late touchdown to defeat Greenon 27-20. The score was tied at 20 with a minute to go but Shawnee drove 75 yards to win the game. Greenon's Deacon Minna scored 2 touchdowns and Chris Waddle scored the other touchdown. Greenon starting quarterback Ryan Linch was injured in the second period and did not return. Greenon's record for the year drops to 2-3 (0-2 CBC).


16 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM BEATS MIAMI EAST 5-0..............
The Greenon Knights girls soccer team beat Miami East High School Saturday night 5-0. Kristen Wiland led the offense with 2 goals. The win improves their record to 5-2. The Greenon Reserve Soccer team tied Miami East 1-1. Their record is now 2-2-2 for the year. Next game is Monday, 18 September at Wayne at 7:30.


16 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER TEAM BEATS DAYTON CHRISTIAN 6-1..............
The Greenon Knights boys soccer team defeated Dayton Christian 6-1 Saturday night. Greenon led 5-1 at halftime. Adam Tener led the way with 3 goals. Greenons record improves to 6-2. Next game is a home game Wednesday, 20 September at 7:30 against Tecumseh.


15 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES CBC OPENER 24-19..............
A gallant Greenon Knights football team battled a good Bellefontaine Friday night but came up short. Greenon was behind 6-0 at halftime but jumped out to a 13-6 lead before Bellefontaine rallied in the 4th quarter. QB Ryan Linch tossed TD passes of 35 yards to Michael DeBolt and 85 yards to Marcus Franck and Steve Leonard scored a TD on a 3 yard run but it wasn't enough. Greenon's record for the year drops to 2-2 (0-1 CBC) and Bellefontaine's record improves to 2-2 (1-0 in CBC). Next game is Friday, 22 September at Shawnee High School


13 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON GIRLS SOCCER TEAM BEATS NORTHWESTERN 4-2..............
The Greenon Knights Girls Soccer team improved their CBC record to 3-0 by defeating Northwestern 4-2. Jana Lee Strait, April Foster, Amy Cordova, and Carlsson all scored one goal to lead the offense. Next game is Saturday, 16 September at Miami East High School. Reserve game starts at 5:30 and Varsity game starts at 7:00.

8 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATS MECHANICSBURG 9-0..............
The Greenon Knights football managed to hang on and defeat Mechanicsburg in a defensive battle played on Senior Night at Greenon High School. Senior Steve Leonard rose to the occassion by rushing for 124 yards and scoring the only TD of the game in the 4th quarter to lead the Knights. Greenon led 3-0 at halftime on a Ryan Linch 24 yard field goal. Greenon's record improves to 2-1 while Mechanicsburg drops to 0-3 for the year.

The Greenon Girls Soccer Team played their first CBC game last night and defeated Bellefontaine 12-0. The Reserve Soccer Team tied Bellefontaine 0-0.


1 SEPTEMBER 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS GREENVIEW....
The Greenon Knights Football team evened their record at 1-1 by beating Greenview 21-7. Greenon's next game is a home game against Mechanicsburg on Friday, 8 September at 7:30.


25 AUGUST 2000 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES OPENER....
The Greenon Knights Football team lost to a talented Fairborn team 35-7 in their opener. Fairborn jumped on Greenon for two quick scores to take an early 14-0 lead. Greenon then fought back to close the gap to 14-7 until Fairborn scored a touchdown on an 11 yard pass with just 11 seconds left in the half to take a 21-7 lead. That's how the game stayed until the last 2 minutes of the game when Fairborn surprisingly "ran up the score" against Greenon by running and passing for two scores at the end of the game. This reporter was shocked at their display of poor sportsmanship at the end of the game and that type of approach does not bode well for their long term chances this year - as the old saying goes : "What comes arond goes around". Greenon's next game is Friday at Greenview


9 JULY 2000 - ENON LIONESS GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM ARE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!.......
The Enon Lioness Girls Fastpitch Softball Team (Ages 15 and under) continued their amazing run this season in the County Fastpitch League with an impressive 13-1 victory in the League Tournament Championship game. The win improves the Enon Lioness record for the year to 17-1. The Enon Lioness accomplishments for the season include 1st place in the County League, 1st Place in the Northwestern 4th of July Tournament, and 1st Place in the County League Post Season Tournament. 11 JUNE 2000 - TWO GREENON GIRLS SOFTBALL PLAYERS MAKE ALL-AREA..............
The Greenon girls softball team had two girls named to the 2000 News-Sun All-Area Softball Team. Lindsay Liming was named 1st Team in the outfield and Jessica Fletcher was named to the 2nd team as an infielder. Lindsay hit a whopping .481 for the year. Jessica hit .362 with 11 runs batted in while playing primarily at 1st base for the Knights. Congratulations to these girls who helped contribute to Greenon's 1st winning season (12-11) since 1988.


10 MAY 2000 - GREENON BOYS SOCCER COACH CHOSEN..............
Greenon High School announced that the new soccer coach for the Year 2000 Team in the Fall will be John Gibbs. Robert Gross will be the assistant coach to John Gibbs. Gibbs replaces Jim Wolfe, who in spite of a 1st and 2nd place finish in the CBC the past two years, was not chosen for a 3rd Year.


10 MAY 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM DROPS SEASON FINALE..................
The Greenon Girls Varsity Softball team lost to Northeastern in the continuation of a game suspended earlier in the year by a score of 12-4. Greenon finishes the season 12-11 (6-8 in the CBC). Northeastern finishes the year 2-12 in the CBC.


6 MAY 2000 - GREENON VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM LOSES TO SHAWNEE......
The Greenon girls softball team dropped their game Saturday to Shawnee by a score of 7-2. Greenon hitting stars were Chlesea Fyffe with two triples and Ashley Boldman with 3 hits. Megan Hughes pitched the entire game for Greenon. Greenon's record for the year drops to 12-10 (6-7 in the CBC) and Shawnee improves to 13-8 (8-6 in the CBC). Greenon's last game will be at home wednesday against Northeastern High School as they will be completing a suspended game played earlier in the season.


28 APRIL 2000 - GREENON VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM EDGES URBANA..
The Greenon girls softball team won another close game by defeating Urbana by a score of 4-3. Greenon scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning when Liz Cotrell doubled to lead off the inning and then Amy Karbasi was inserted as a pinch-runner and promptly stole 3rd base and scored on a single by Janet Berger. Offensive stars for Greenon were Teresa Thompson who contributed a Triple and Lindsay Liming who went 2-3. Liz Cotrell got the complete game victory for Greenon. Greenon's record for the year improves to 11-7 (5-6 CBC). Greenon hosts Northeastern Monday, 1 May, at 4:40.

The Greenon girls softball team has exceeded all fans expectations this year by jumping out to a 10-4 record. Players on the list include Katie Carver, Lindsay Liming, Liz Cottrel and Teresa Thompson for their hitting and Amy Karbasi and Liz Cottrel are among the leading pitchers. The Greenon girls softball team continued their pattern of winning close games by defeating Bellefontaine Wednesday night by a score of 12-11. Greenon fell behind 6-0 and then incredibly scored all 12 of their runs in the 5th inning and held on for the victory. Senior Liz Cottrel gained the victory is relief of starter Amy Karbasi. Greenon's record for the year improves to 10-4 (4-3 in the CBC) while Bellefontaine's record drops to 6-6 (4-3 in the CBC).

The Greenon Varsity Tennis team dropped a close match to Urbana 3 sets to 2. Greenon's record for the year is 1-5.

The Greenon baseball team lost to Bellefontaine Wednesday by a score of 11-2. Greenon jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead but a good Bellefontaine team exploded for 7 runs in the 3rd inning to come from behind for victory. Greenon's record for the year is now 3-9 (1-6 in the CBC). Bellefontaine improved to 10-3 (6-1 in the CBC).


15 APRIL 2000 - GREENON SOFTBALL TEAM SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER...
Greenon girls softball team improved it's record to 9-3 for the year by beating Oakwood 26-7 in the first game and winning by forfeit in the second game. Freshman Amy Karbasi pitched a complete game victory in the first game. Liz Cottrel, Katie Carver and Amber Overholser each had 3 RBI's the first game and Chelsea went 2 for 3. Greenon's next game is at Shawnee on Monday.


13 APRIL 2000 - GREENON DEFEATED BY KENTON RIDGE GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM 8-0...
Kenton Ridge Sophomore pitching sensation Molly Binz (Click for Photo) outdueled Freshman pitcher Amy Karbasi (Click for Photo)by a score of 8-0. Greenon managed 3 hits off of Molly Binz but were unable to score. Amy Karbasi pitched the entire game for Greenon and settled down after giving up some unearned runs in the first inning. Greenon's record for the year is 6-3.


10 APRIL 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM ROUTES URBANA 14-2...
The Greenon Knights defeated Urbana High School 14-2 at Urbana. Greenon Freshman pitcher Amy Karbasi had another impressive outing as she only surrendered 2 runs in the first inning and then shut out Urbana over the final 6 innings. Greenon improves their record to 4-2 for the year (1-1 in the CBC).

30 March 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM IMPROVES TO 2-0
The Greenon Girls Varsity Softball team improved to 2-0 for the year with an 8-5 victory over Springfield North. Amy Karbasi pitched 4 shoutout innings for Greenon to begin the game and Megan Hughes finished the game. Greenon's next game is Saturday when they host Catholic Central in a double header beginning at 1:00PM. The Greenon Reserves dropped a heartbreaker to the North Reserves 21-20.

Freshman basketball player Marcus Franck was named to the All CBC 2nd Team. Marcus was the only player represented by the team this year.

The Year 2000 Greenon Winter Sports Awards night will be held on Tuesday, 14 March at Greenon High School.


26 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO TIPP CITY IN TOURNAMENT
The Greenon boys basketball team lost to Tipp City Saturday night by the score of 64-42. Greenon only trailed by 28-20 at halftime but Tipp City pulled away and led 54-31 at the end of the third quarter and Greenon never challenged them again. With the loss a young Greenon team finishes the year with a 3-18 record. Freshman Greg Nickles led Greenon in scoring with 13 points, including a trio of three point baskets.


22 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM TO PLAY TIPP CITY IN TOURNAMENT
The Greenon boys basketball team will play their first tournament game against Tipp City on Saturday, 26 February, at 8:30 PM at Troy's Hobart Arena. Come on out and watch them play.


19 Feb 2000 - GREENON VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO SHAWNEE 59-50
The Greenon basketball team hung tough most of the night but ended up dropping a close game to Shawnee 59-50. Greenon only trailed by two points late in the game but Shawnee was able to go 9 - 11 from the free throw line down the stretch to earn the victory. Greenon was trailing by a score of 46-33 after 3 quarters before the made their charge in the 4th quarter. Greenon was lead in scoring by freshman Marcus Franck with 16 points. Fellow Freshman Greg Nichols added 6 points. Greenon's record drops to 3-17 overall and 3-11 in the CBC. Shawnee's record improved to 11-9 overall and 10-4 in the CBC.


17 Feb 2000 - GREENON VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES IN TOURNAMENT 52-15
The Greenon Girls Varsity Basketball team lost a tournament game to a team that could very well end up as State Champion this year as they dropped their game to Chaminade-Julianne Wednesday night by a score of 52-15. Chaminade is the top rated school in the state for their division and proved they are worthy of their ranking by putting away Greenon. Chaminade led 29-7 at half time and was not challenged in the second half. Greenon was lead in scoring by Nicole Hart with 9 points. Greenon ends their season with a record of 3-18.


14 Feb 2000 - GREENON VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES TO NORTHEASTERN 50-43
The Greenon Girls Varsity Basketball team lost to Northeastern Saturday night 50-43. Greenon led at halftime by a 19 - 11 score and were still leading after 3 quarters 28-24 when Northeastern charged back to win. Greenon was led in scoring by Nicole Hart with 14 points and Holly Wolf with 12. Greenon record drops to 3-17 overall and 0-14 in the CBC.


14 Feb 2000 - GREENON GIRLS FRESHMAN TEAM NOTES
Greenon High School fielded a Freshman girls basketball team for the first time in years and the Freshman girls concluded their season with a 5-7 record. This was quite an improvement for a group of girls who as 7th and 8th graders were unable to accumulate that amount of wins. Congratulations to the girls and the school for fielding a Freshman team. Both the girls and the program ultimately benefit regardless of the won/loss record.


12 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM BEATS NORTHEASTERN 57-42
An improving Greenon squad cruised to a 57 - 42 victory over Northeastern on Friday. Greenon led 25-16 at halftime and stayed in command the whole game. Freshman Marcus Franck again lead the Knights in scoring with 19 points, and Josh Elliot and Bryan Thompson each had 11 points. Greenon's record in the CBC improves to 3-9 and they are 3-14 overall.


9 Feb 2000 - INDIAN VALLEY 8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM WINS TOURNAMENT!!!
The Indian Valley Redskins 8th Grade Girls basketball team cruised to an easy win over Reid by a score of 30-21 in a game played Monday night at Northwestern Middle School. The Redskins were ahead 21-2 at halftime and substituted liberally in the second half as the outcome was a foregone conclusion. The win capped a successfull season for the team - their only loss all year was to Kettering Alter by 3 points.


8 Feb 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY TEAM LOSES TO GREENVIEW 62 - 46
Host Greenon lost to Greenview Monday night 62-46. Leading scorers for Greenon were Holly Wolf with 20 points and Nicole Hart with 9 points. Greenon's record drops to 3-15 for the season.


8 Feb 2000 - INDIAN VALLEY 7TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES IN SEMI FINALS
The Indian Valley 7th grade girls basketball team lost their CBC Semi Final Tournament game to Northridge Monday night by a score of 40 - 19. Northridge will play Urbana in the finals. Urbana defeated Bellefontaine 48 - 47 in overtime to advance to the finals.


5 Feb 2000 - INDIAN VALLEY 8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM ADVANCES TO TITLE GAME!!!
The Indian Valley 8th grade girls basketball team held off an inspired Kenton Ridge Team by a score of 28-22 to win their semi final tournament game Saturday at Northwestern's Middle School Gym. Kelli Hall converted two free throws with 8 seconds left to seal the victory. Kenton Ridge was looking for revenge in this game as they had been embarrassed during two regular season losses to Indian Valley. Kenton Ridge held the lead most of the game and still lead after 3 periods when the Indian Valley Team made their charge in the 4th period. Leslie Clem and Kara Englefield were both dominant forces in the 4th period for the I.V. squad and Lauren Bahun's ball handling at the end enabled the Redskins to run out the clock. Indian Valley advances to the title game Monday against the Reid/Urbana winner.

3 Feb 2000 - GREENON BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAMS BEATS NORTHWESTERN 56-52
Greenon, led by Freshman sensation Marcus Franck, defeated Northwestern Tuesday night by a score of 56-52. Marcus Franck of Greenon exploded for 36 points to lead the team in scoring. Greenon trailed at the half by 32-27 but came back to win. Greenon's record is now 2-12, and they are 2-7 in the CBC.


2 Feb 2000 - GREENON GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM TO FACE TOP RANKED TEAM IN TOURNAMENT
The Greenon girls varsity basketball team will play Chaminade-Julienne in their first round tournament game this year on Wednesday, Febuary 16th. The game is scheduled to be played at Vandalia at 5:30PM. This is a tough draw as Chaminade is the number 1 ranked team in the state.

Can you say 94%? Nicole Hart of Greenon can. In her last 10 games, Nicole has become a sensational free throw shooter as she has converted an amazing 34 of 36 freethrows. There are very few NBA players who can shoot at that clip!!!. Congrats to Nicole!!!!

A gritty Greenon Girls team played from behind most of the way but played their best in the 4th quarter when it counted most as they defeated the Bellefontaine team. Stacie C.'s offense and Sarah D.'s defense sparked the Lady Knights in the last period. Next game is a home game against Beavercreek on 3 Feb 2000.

A young Greenon boys basketball team continued their struggles with a 76-51 loss to first place Bellefontaine Friday night. Greenon hung tough for the first half, trailing only 27-20, but in the second half Bellefontaine pulled away for the victory. Greenon was lead in scoring by Josh Elliot with 21 points and Freshman Marcus Frank chipped in with 15 points. Greenon's record drops to 1-11 overall and 1-7 in the CBC.

In a close game the Greenon girls varsity basketball team lost to Northeastern 41-40 when Northeastern converted a 3 point play in the final two seconds of the game. Greenon was lead by Holly W. with 14 points and Jessica K. with 12. Greenon's record drops to 2-5 for the year. The Greenon Reserves won their game 34-20 and were lead in scoring by Jodie S. with 14 points.

The Greenon Knights were outmanned by a veteran Northwestern squad Friday night and lost 69-43. Greenon hung tough with the Warriors and only trailed 31-21 at halftime. Leading scorers for Greenon were Hays with 13, and Thompson and Elliot with 10 points. The Greenon girls basketball team lost to undefeated Northwestern by a score of 55-20. The two teams were tied after one period but the veteran Northwestern squad pulled away from Greenon in the 2nd period to provide them with their 4th win of the year against 0 losses. Greenon's record drops to 1-2 for the year. Heather L. led Greenon in scoring with 6 points.

The Greenon freshman girls basketball team continued their surprising season by defeating Bellefontaine 32-30. 4 Dec - GREENON BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES OPENER TO FAIRBORN 64-34
The Greenon boys basketball team lost to Fairborn in the Fairborn Tip-off classic by a score of 64-34. Greenon was down 30-19 at halftime and never recovered. Josh Elliott led Greenon in scoring with 15 points.


2 Dec - GREENON GIRLS FRESHMAN BASKETBALL TEAM LOSES OPENER TO SHAWNEE
The Greenon Girls 9th grade basketball team encountered a tough, quick shawnee squad and lost 43-4. Ashley S. played a solid game at point guard but Shawnee outshone them on this day. Next game is at Greenon on Saturday, 4 Dec at 10:00 AM. against Tecumseh High School.

11 Nov 99 - GREENON HONORS FALL SPORTS TEAMS AT AWARDS BANQUET
The annual Fall Sports Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday, 10 Nov 99. This year there was much to celebrate; on the girls side the Cross country team qualified for the state, the soccer team was regional runnerups and league champs, the tennis team went 14-4 and had three regional qualifiers. On the boys side, the soccer team was district runnerup and the football team had a fine 7-3 record. Click here to see photo of girls tennis singles players receiving their trophies at the ceremony. These three girls combined for an impressive record of 39-3 in CBC League play this year and they all were regional qualifiers.

31 Oct 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM CONCLUDES SEASON BY BEATING URBANA 42-7
The Greenon Knights finished their season in nice fashion with a convincing 42-7 defeat of the Urbana Hillclimbers. Once again leading the victory for Greenon was Mike Seifert who ran for touchdown and also threw a 31 yard score to Steve Leonard. Junior Steve Leonard also ran for 156 yards with two touchdowns. Greenon improves their record to 7-3 (5-2 in the CBC) while Urbana drops to 2-8 (2-5 in the CBC).


23 Oct 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS KENTON RIDGE 27-7
The Greenon Knights concluded their home schedule this season with a convincing 27-7 victory over Kenton Ridge High School. Greenon stars were Mike Seifert who ran for 96 yards and passed for 66 yards and Steve Leonard who ran for 114 yards on only 11 carries and scored one touchdown. Greenon improves their record to 6-3 (4-2 in the CBC) while Kenton Ridge drops to 3-6.

17 Oct 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS ANOTHER ONE 46-0!!
Greenon dominated Northeastern Friday by a score of 46-0. Quarterback Mike Siefert was 12-17 for 222 yards and tossed 3 touchdown passes to Kyle Carter. Greenon improves their record to 5-3 (3-2 in the CBC) while Northeastern's record drops to 2-6 (1-4 in the CBC).

09 Oct 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM DROPS CLOSE ONE TO TECUMSEH 19-6
Greenon gave Tecumseh a valiant game Friday but two late scores by Tecumseh were enough to defeat the Knight 19-6. Greenon's only score came on a punt return by Kyle Carter. Greenon's record drops to 4-3.

08 Oct 99 - GREENON GIRLS TENNIS TEAM ADVANCES THREE PLAYERS TO DISTRICTS
The Greenon girls Tennis team will provide 3 out of the 6 girls from clark county who were able to qualify for the district this year. Laura Culberston advances in singles and Emily Pitstick and Diana Stolar advance in doubles.

05 Oct 99 - GREENON GIRLS TENNIS TEAM LOSES CLOSE MATCH TO URBANA
The Greenon girls tennis team lost a close match to Urbana by a 2-3 score. Greenon would have shared the CBC tennis title with Urbana if they would have beaten them. Laura Culbertson and Emily Pitstick continued their winning ways. Laura is undefeated in the CBC for 1999. Next up is the sectional Thursday. Good luck Knights!!!!

02 Oct 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS HOMECOMING GAME 49-0!!!!
The Greenon Knights had an easy time defeating Northwestern High School by a score of 49-0. The score could have been much worse as Greenon rolled to a 42-0 halftime lead and then basically played out the clock in the second half. Greenon's record improves to 4-2 for the year. Next game is Friday, 8 Oct 99 at Tecumseh.

18 Sep 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES CLOSE ONE TO BELLEFONTAINE 20-14
Greenon had a 14 - 13 lead until Bellefontaine scored a touchdown with 4 minutes remaining to defeat the Greenon Knights 20-14. Greenon quarterback Mike Seifert rushed for 109 yards and passed for 100 more including a 32 yard pass to Kyle Carter. Greenon's record drops to 2-2 for the year. Greenon's next game is at home against Shawnee next Friday, 24 Sep 99.

10 Sep 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS AGAIN 25-14!!!!!!!!
A tough Greenon squad defeated Milton-Union by a score of 25-14. Greenon rallied in the 4th quarter to score 12 unanswered points for the victory. Mike Seifert continued his success with 193 yards of total offense and hard running Steve Leonard contributed 127 yards rushing along with 2 touchdowns. Next game is Friday, 17 Sep at Bellefontaine.

04 Sep 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM WINS AGAINST GREENEVIEW 35-13
On a picture perfect night, Greenon's football team overcame a shaky start to score 35 unanswered points to defeat Greeneview 35-13. Greenon had a long touchdown pass called back by a penalty on their first play from scrimmage and then gave up 13 points before rallying behind Stevie Leonard's two touchdown runs and Mike Seifert's passing and running. Siefert was 8 of 14 passing for 123 yards and also ran for 84 yards. Greenon improves their record to 1-1 for the year. Greenon's next game is at Milton Union next Friday, 10 September.

30 Aug 99 - GREENON FOOTBALL TEAM LOSES OPENER TO FAIRBORN
The Greenon football team started out the year on a disappointing note with a 27-0 defeat at the hands of Fairborn High School. Greenon was favored going into the game but their potent offense was unable to score despite moving the ball into Fairborn territory on numerous occasions. Greenon turnovers played a major factor in the defeat. The defense played hard but gave up too many long plays which hurt their cause. Greenon's next game is at home next Friday.

25 Aug 99 - GREENON GIRLS TENNIS TEAM DEFEATS BELLEFONTAINE
The Greenon Girls Tennis Team began defense of their CBC Title from last year with a 4-1 Victory over Bellefontaine. Culbertson, Pitstick and Stolar all won their singles match and Williamson-Jenkins won their doubles match. Next up is Milton Union at Greenon on Thursday, 26 Aug 99.

20 Jun 99 - GREENON HIRES NEW BOYS BASKETBALL COACH
Greenon High School hired a new basketball coach, Mr William Smith. Mr Smith previously coached at Kenton Ridge High School from 1977-1994 and compiled a record of 258-128, including 14 consecutive winning seasons.
